Incredible Bulk
James,
We have chatted a few times about your plans for the british grand prix but its been a few weeks since the british finals.
Anything new involved for the weekend in terms of sports, events etc?
The strongman is fully sorted out now and then promo vid is out today. Details:
http://www.muscletalk.co....Prix-Fitness-Expo.aspx There will be a televised pro show in the Sunday, but an Open qualifier on the Saturday - if any budding strongmen think they have got what it takes - please contact me
Everyone knows about the IFBB pro open and under 202s which are on, but we're also sorting out an amateur show which will be called Joe Weider's Euro Amateur Olympia - it will be invitation only and run by the UKBFF but to all European countries. I'll post more details when I know.
Arm wrestling will be holding their Grand Prix too with £1k first prize money! Plus Rambo Rod will be running the now infamous grappler
Powerlifting: we're working with the BPC and Andy Bolton has now confirmed he is going to attempt a new deadlift world record! They'll also have a PLing comp and we're discussing the details.
We also have BMXing and skateboarding confirmed with 12m high ramps and jumps
We will also feature MMA, karate and boxing, though we still have to confirm partners (in negotiations). Plus a couple of others too!
I knwo you took this on board on short notice, the 'other event' took a year of planning yet you have 6 months for this one!! How much workload and effort is this taking to pull off?
I was merely working alongside the 'other event' people as a sort of advisor/consultant to help them pull it off and both years were successful - but they did most of the work.
With the BGP I'm co-promoter with Neil and Simon, so all decisions fall wholly on our shoulders. We're all working very ****ing hard and it's this bit which is stressful - getting the website done, and don't mention ****ing tickets to me LOL. I can sell sponsorship and exhibitor space and I can promote the show, but it's the bull**** which goes on as well which we struggle with! There have been some really ****ty things which have been going on in the background which, to be honest, would make headline news worldwide in this industry: I really can't say to anyone some of the **** we've had to contend with (especially Neil)!
I guess about 75% of my working day is this at the moment - it will fall off when the ****ing tickets are up and running and then will be more again nearer to the event. I'm helped by a new member of staff, Renee, who's working here in our offices as the event coordinator and she's doing a sterling job. Plus Hazel and Lambo are helpful with the other bits (they'll be running the MT stand at the Expo)
As a follow up of the above question lol, why are you doing it again???
I have woken bolt upright at night on two occassions with palpitations asking myself this. When you think about it, it's a massive responsibility, but we have everything in place to make it not just work, but to be a huge success. (Incidently, I must phone you as I have some ideas about the reporting).
