Was too small mate, really was, no way I'll get my kingsize bed in there! Also shared access and share the floor with someone else, that put me off a little. I'm looking at one up near ASDA on Friday, and another in Leyland somewhere on Saturday. Bit dearer but hopefully bigger and nicer.

This week has turned into a rest week. No weights this week, just some gentle cardio. Probably do a circuit of some sort at the weekend and that will be it until next week. Something is playing havoc with my belly too, not quite worked out what it is!

You know it!

Looks fine to me, bare in mind I'm only counting the first rep. Only just off the chest! Squat vid to follow, I can squat 140kg for 8, but can't seem to do 1 at 150kg!

I'll come back to you on that tonight! But seeing as you mentioned Jay Sean, I liked his track "Maybe" recently though its a bit cheesy and I got sick of it quickly!

Boar, I've told Mook he should pop down for a few days in summer and train with us!

RE: Time to "body recomp" - 24 April 2008 11:31
yea, would be good to see daz being punished by the leyland massive.

the thing with 1 rep max's is you are better working up to them over the weeks / months - 8's ...5's ... 3's .... double's ,coz the extra weight can just bury you, especially squats.

the extra weight can just bury you, especially squats.

Absolutely, I unracked 160kg a couple of weeks back, lowered it down under control but as soon as I tried to go back up, well, it didn't happen and I dropped it onto the safety pins. Tried 150kg last week, I picked it up, but I wasn't happy with it and put it back.

Week off this week so no vids, and because I train legs on Sunday, I don't have a training partner to video it! Next chance I get I'll film my best to date.

I'm going to that carvery at The Farmers Arms in Whitestake tonight, can't wait! The bird is chauffuering me too so I can have a pint! Then off work Friday so I'll go and do that little arm routine Keyboard Hero gave me in another thread, a bit of running/circuit Saturday and may train legs on Sunday to catch up for missing last Sunday's session, then straight back into the routine on Monday. Spend a couple of weeks getting used to training on ever-so-slightly reduced cals, already started using Liv52, keep that up and start with the old mdien in a couple of weeks time and get ripped as a mutha-funker!

Boar has a good point. If you worked dowN the reps over thE course of a few weeks you'd surprise yourself.

my 2 cents

work on your arms hard for the next 6-8 weeks

OR

give them their own day

both will mean cutting back on the other stuff

Cheers for that. An extra day might be a good shout really seeing as I'm training for little else nowadays. It will leave my chest/shoulders days free to focus on just those too. Cardio will sacrifice, but 2 days a week is probably enough to drop a little weight on, and if not, I'll do the whole fasted-cardio bit in the mornings again...

I shall have a think.....!

well done on the deads

Thanks!

Here's bench 120kg. Only 1 clean rep, rest were poor, as stated above, meal timings were all over and I'm sleepy so performance was poor. Swift, are you happy with the form though!?

Yeah, not the best benching mate. Bear in mind I say that as someone whose bench form is pretty bad too, so consider this me joining your 'Not Great Bench Technique' Club.

Stay in control of the weight from the off, i.e. don't start to let it drop down the moment your spotter has handed it to you. Are there any good benchers in your gym, technique-wise? Always the best people to get tips from.

Strength is there, so it's not all bad.

Nar its fanny's gym mate. I didn't think it was too bad (referring only to the first rep). Elbows out wide, almost off the chest, in control? I guess not!

I've got some chalk now for deadlifting too.

Sweet. You won't regret the chalk purchase. If you're still using straps for regular deadlifting in the future, you're doing something wrong.

Bench technique can be a nightmare to learn. I'm crap at it!

Good stuff. Hopefully it will bring my forearms up with it.

I think mine have come up a bit from using chalk, but how much mass you can really gain with isometric contractions is probably quite slim.

RE: Time to drop some BF - 25 April 2008 13:08
Well that bedsit was even worse, 1 room with a tiny kitchen and tiny bathroom off it. I'd really prefer 2 seperate rooms. And to top it off, because of my age and because I'm single, I'm not entitled to any Local Housing Allowance so whatever I get is coming out of my own pocket. I'm really struggling to understand how people get by these days!? If I wasn't lucky enough to have a decent immediate family, there is every chance I'd be living on the street by now! Some people out there must really struggle to get by.

Anyway, I'm stuffing my face with rice, tuna and beetroot and washing down green tea and ephidrine ready for an arms-blaster in the gym this afternoon! Gym makes everything ok!
