Event 1: Deadlift. 240kg for reps on Olympic bar (head to head)

Event 2: Arm-over-Arm vehicle pull (one at a time)

Event 3: Medley. Yoke 300kg x 20m, Duck Walk 180kg-200kg x 20m (head to head)

Event 4: Log Clean & Press. 105kg for reps. (3 at a time)

Event 5: Farmers Walk. 2x115kg x 40m (turn at 20m) (3 at a time)

How does the northern qualifier i.e weights/events compare to the other regional qualifiers? Do they differ from region to region?

All the qualifiers are of a simliar level with some standardization of weights but the events are a little different at each. For example the deadlift at all three is 240kg for reps but the medleys are all a bit different and the vehicles used in the arm-over-arm events will be different.

If there is a valid reason you can't enter the Midlands comp you will probably be allowed to enter the Northern or Southern (whichever is nearest to you).

As an organizer of the u105 strongman competition why is it only deadlift year after year.Why not squat instead of deadlift? Or do you have to include this lift in your competitions?

The squat is far more difficult to set up than the deadlift in strongman comps, especially if you are trying to do as many events head-to-head as possible. However, thats not to say it will never make an appearance and maybe next year it will be on the list of events set by the head honchos, or maybe I will add it as one of my "free" events. I will be competing in a comp' later this year that has axle front squat for reps in it, I'll see how it works out.
