Essex.. Woke up to lots of snow and a puddle in the kitchen. My 9month old bulldog has decided not to go outside and make yellow snow! Got some work to do with that

The fast lane was more or less sluched up so no one was using that then some prick of a young lad in a small car decided it was no problem to zoom passed everyone in the 3rd lane!! He obviously thought he had the driving skills to go fast in those conditions in his small car with blacked out windows and was totally oblivious to the fact that driving fast like that in slush was splashing the rest of the cars making their driving more hazardous!

We then had some idiot whose registration number i tweeted who was that close to us we couldn't see his headlights in the mirror, he was in a small Suzuki. He then after 30mins decided to pass us just as the 3rd lane was messed up again and was obviously going to try and cut in but the traffic in front of us started to slow again meaning he had to stay put until further down the line!

I really couldn't believe the amount of idiots on the road. People speeding, no lights, driving too close, braking for no reason other than probably ****ting themselves. We saw 3 cars overturned, passed 2 accidents which had blocked off one lane and were diverted off at Knutsford services onto their service road to rejoin the motorway a junction higher up..........I do wonder if the unfortunate people in this accident had been one of the idiots or if the accident had been caused by one of the idiots!!

At the risk of sounding like Im off on one of my 'all english people are tw'ts' rants again, I do find the way that people drive in bad weather in this country is absolutely unbelieveable.

A significant number of english drivers simply have NO idea whatsoever how to drive in snow... which., coupled with the fact that almost no-one has studded winter tyres and therefore their vehicles cant handle snow very well either is a lethal combination.

Back home if you took to tailgating people on snowed-up roads then Im pretty sure someone would just stop the car and shoot a couple of holes in your radiator...

In Budapest for 4 days and flew back last nite. Over a foot of snow and -20'C, the place never missed a beat, quite pathetic how we are unable to deal with anything these days.

The snow isnt heavy here in Geneva but my god its cold the ice around the lake has literally taken over. Temp has not got above -10 even during the day for about 10 days now. The wind is about 50 mph its honestly the coldest feeling I have ever experienced even when i was in the US at -30 with no windchill its insane.

I Was over in Amsterdam at the weekend and it was refreshing to see it's not just the UK that can't handle a bit of snow. No trains out of schiphol airport and a 2 hour wait for a taxi after a few inches of snow.

That said it was getting down to -22 as well.

Ras - are those recent pics or stock images from previous cold snaps?

Recent snaps I believe not ones I took though hence why they look a bit fake. I walked along the lake yesterday and there were full blown ice scultpures there was insane. The ships in the harbour are all encased in ice and where the winds blown the water over onto the cars and stuff its just solid ice. From where I am Nyon to Versoix to Geneva its just frozen solid mental.

I believe the last time this happened was in 2007 when it all froze http://www.hoax-slayer.com/ice-storm-photos.shtml. Im going to go down this weekend and take some proper pics will report back.
