daz i can also accept/ understand the loyalty rule- even though the other feds dont have it- i can appreciate the view that you join one fed, you dont do others, people dont like it but it does make some sense and i expect is the same with some other sports/ leagues the 4 year thing though seems greedy plain and simple? and will no doubt stop many from entering if they just want to compete and not bothered about the fed

gymbabeliz the 4 year thing though seems greedy plain and simple? and will no doubt stop many from entering if they just want to compete and not bothered about the fed im not sure about greedy, i mean it actually works out 20 quid cheaper over the 4 years, but only if you compete every year, maybe if membership had some other benefit, such as reduced price entry to shows, or something, then it would seem to be of benefit to the athletes as well as the federation. definately agree with your last point though, it will for sure put some people off competing, though i would imagine it will most likely be women who were looking at doing bikini to see what they thought of competing and how they did. so it seems a little strange if it is the only membership option in that respect.

I don't agree with the loyalty thing as it's a minority enough sport to begin with. Not everyone has the potential to reach the heights of pro status in the fed and therefore should be allowed to compete where ever and when ever. I do to some extent appreciate the rule once you've qualified for the finals (although I still don't think it's good) but competitors diet long and hard enough to get on stage, it's a shame limits are put on competing by this rule. Anyway, what's it matter to me as I've no intention of ever competing with this fed

daz wasnt the annual membership fee £15 anyway? kami's convinced he paid £15 last year... anyway greedy i meant as in trying to keep all the athletes to themselves for 4 years, rather than financially greedy... i dont think it would only affect bikini competitors. we have 2 new people wanting to try competing this year from our gym, (one male, one female, not bikini) they wanted to try a couple of shows, no intention of doing finals or even doing it next year..tell them its £60 to enter one of the shows and they were like, forget it i'll just do the one show......me too i was considering doing bikini at a local show just cos ive got myself into that sort of shape now but ive no intention of taking it any further, its has without a doubt made me rethink , i dont want to do it that badly to pay so much just to enter one show!

Why dont people just compete in Nabba if they do not want to compete with UKBFF and pay that price

this is to get round the current loophole of being able to compete with another fed then join the UKBFF and compete, as currently you can compete with another fed and then compete for the UKBFF and break no rules as long as you join the UKBFF after the other fed show..... it is there choice although i do find it laughable that they pick and choose the rules laid down by the IFBB as the rule book also has a part calling for drug tests at all shows and the promotion of drug free bodybuilding.....i cannot remember when the last qualifier was drug tested?? Daz i actually agree with you about being loyal but what are you being loyal for?? if you was one of the lucky ones to be taken abroad to say the Worlds/Europeans or Arnold classic shows to compete for the UK and paid for by the UKBFF then yes you should be loyal but if you have competed in a qualifier and say the Britain all at your own cost why be loyal?? loyal to who and for what?? the UKBFF is a good federation with some of the best athletes competing but it is being spoilt by this and other stupid rules, dictating to the very people who make the UKBFF what it is the athletes is stupid and wrong.......i have asked this of many rep in the past maybe someone will answer it here...... How does banning competitors from competing with another federation either harm the UKBFF or push the sport forward???? surely the more comps athletes get to compete in the better the standard will be???

thats a good question about the loyalty mate. in all honesty im not sure. i enjoy going to nabba shows, but their categories really dont suit me and i wouldnt do well at all in a nabba show, so i competer with ukbff. I suppose im only 'loyal' because its them i choose to compete with. i guess we all choose though, and the majority of people seem to choose one of the other in any one year, i guess because of how the categorys are run, and what they look for in a physique.

im not certain but i think after you have joined the 4 year membership if you competed elsewhere, idont think they would allow you to rejoin and compete with them again. got my invite from the hercs show and if i set foot on stage before october I would be disqualified. and if chose after the brits to compete elsewhere, i wouldnt be allowed to re join and come back, not sure how long this 'ban' would last though! if someone wanted to try a show to see if its for you, id suggest doing another fed first, then commit to UKBFF once they have decided they want to do the sport longterm.

the way i read it julia, you wouldnt be 'banned' you would just lose your qualification. just like people who have held a british title have automatic qualificaiton 'as long as they remain loyal' the way i read that you just lose the priviledge, and have to re-qualify again

All this **** confuses me :(

no mate, better to compete every year and gain the experience IMO, after all even once you have the physique you still need that to go with it. and i think the best results come from competing. when ive seen people have a year out, they never seem to come back looking much different, as the momentum gets lost

so it was £15....so £60 isnt saving any.. i emailed an area rep to ask if there's still an annual option and he didnt know - he had been trying to get an answer as several others are questionnig this, but no response. Apparantly it was a topic at the last federation meeting

actually i think you might be right on the £15 thing. i remember paying 20 at leeds, but then a fiver of that is entrance to the show. when you look at the ukbff shop, its only showing a 4 year membership, so it would appear that there isnt a yearly option.

i cant beleive there are people other than the reps who agree with the 'loyalty' clause,,, it stinks to high heaven and robs the stage of some great physiques theres some great nabba guys who could realy spice the finals up, but youl never see it, i mean wouldnt it be great for the sport for all the best people to be on the same stage, surely it cant be so hard theres no logical reason what so ever why this cant happen, can any one give me an explanation why this is the case without reeking of licky arse bull****???? ive got to add,,, didnt flex lewis win all the jnr nabba shows and then the efbb finals in the same yr?

I got told of a rep £30 1 year £45 2 year and the website needed updating for 1 and 2 year membership options
The person who said ''its the taking part that counts'' probably never won.

The Nabba finals are usually May, UKBFF September/October. It would still have been possible for him to qualify after winning Nabba finals.
