A question about making a complaint/suggestion?
14 March 2010 16:08
( permalink)
I have seen a few articles about this and thought I would ask everyone as it has just happened to me. I ordered my most recent supps from a well-known company (A very high percentage of us use this company) for the first time changing from my normal suppliers MonsterSupplements (only price made me change - MS imo are fantastic). I made the order and all was fine. The supps arrive from this company on Saturday while I am away and I get a friend calling me asking if the package was mine. I reply yes. He then explains to me the state the package is in. . . Upon getting home today to see it, it is absolutly SHOCKING. It clearly says fragile on the front of the box and WOW has the been ignored! It had clearly been opened at some point as the product inside is hanging out, the box is dented and it has an insane amount of masking/cellotape missing further demonstrating that the parcel has been opened before arriving to me. After taking some pics I check inside and everything I ordered is there, thankfully. However, the more I think about it, if many people have experienced this then I imagine that the supplement company may have a deal with a certain delivering company. Surely it would be in the supps company interest if I alerted them to this awful customer service?

You should inform who you bought it from - include pictures and a clear description. Don't make it out that you are after anything, but that it has affected the chances of you ordering from them again as the courier obviously hasn't treated the item as it should be treated.

That's the thing. My goods themselves seem to be fine and I do have them intact. It's just more the state they were in. I'm not after anything really. I saw that someone else made the exact same complaint a few days ago on MT and was unsure on what he did in the end.

If i were in your shoes i would let them know and say what you've said here. Ultimately you don't want anything from them but it will affect the chances of buying anything from them in the future. It's the courier fault, not theirs - but right now you could be staring at an actual damaged package.

i kind of take the opinion that if the stuff got there, what does it matter what state the box was in? what was the delivery company?

Dazc I was kind of in two minds about that. The only thing I thought from the companies perspective is that they will probably have a deal with those couriers and if the package is being recieved in that state then they could lose business. Obviously not my problem but I still could be doing them a favour.

I doubt that any reputable company would be happy with a courier who mistreats the packages they pay the courier to deliver. Given a choice between a firm who does their job well, and one who barely manages that task i know which i would give my business to.

dazc i kind of take the opinion that if the stuff got there, what does it matter what state the box was in? what was the delivery company? I would normally agree with you here, except for the fact that the OP claimed there was "Fragile" tape/labels on the box. Irregardless of if the content was or was not fragile or was or was not in satisfactory condition, is the fact that what if that could have been something easily broken and treated like that?? Also, if the package has been open, isn't that illegal when sending domesitc?! mcl

You'd be doing the company a favour. Let them know.

i used to work with packaging a fair amount and once got to even test it at a TUV lab (apprentice then). The packaging i see some companies ship their goods out in is shocking. I've seen single ply cardboard boxes shipping goods over 15kg in weight and arriving like a used tea bag. Companies using what can only be described as broken polystyrene lumps you'd get from around a large electrical good. You open the box and its like a game of lucky dip and where is my product? The polystyrene wotsits are not too bad and shows the company has some idea on packaging fillers. A fair few now use air bags to cushion the item, a great idea. We use a term in our company, 'out of the box experiance'... if you open a battered box with bad internal packaging..... it says a lot about the company.

I had the same experience with a delivery last year. It would be fair to say it has made me v.reluctant to use the company again while they have the same courier.
