AX Supersize Pre-Workout review 16 February 2012 22:42 (permalink)
First Use

Okay, so I received my tub yesterday and today I had a leg session after work, so I though what better way to start logging this supplement.  I took one scoop today as I was unsure how this product would effect me and its always better to start off with too little than too much IMO.  Here goes:

Taste - 3/10 - Okay, I really struggled on this part.  I mixed my one scoop with around 250ml water and I have to say I struggled to get it down.  I persevered and chugged it down very quickly.  Next time I will definitely add less water and get it down me quick, haha.  Its a shame it doesnt taste as good as it smells as the lemon smell is very nice.  Saying this the taste is not the important issue on a Pre-WO supplement so onto the important bits.

Pump - N/A/10 - Now I have not scored ths as I was working legs and personally I feel it would be unfair to score at this stage asjudging pumps from legs is very difficult.  I will be sure to check the pumps on my chest session tomorrow.

Energy - 7/10 - I did not get a 'Mad' rush from this product, however, for me this is a positive thing as sometimes too much of an energy rush can be detrimental to my workout as I get a little over zealous and its there that some poor form can rear its ugly head.  The energy felt was more of a consistent surge through my workout and given that this workout lasted 1 hour 30 minutes and was pretty intense, the fact that the energy remained throughout the entirity of my workout was a good thing.

Focus/Motivation - 8.5/10 - This is where this product sone the most for me.  I felt very focused and motivated to keep training to a high level for my whole workout.  I was 'in the zone' and very determined to get as many reps out I could whilst maintaining good form.  I managed to PB twice on squats today and I do put this down to the focus and energy combination experienced from this product.

Overall - 7/10 - As the taste was poor and I cant give a score for the 'Pump' aspect a this stage, then the score is currently at a 7, however, this may improved with further use and increased dosages as I continue to log this product.

Again I want to thank Muscle Finesse for giving me the opportunity to log this supplement and I will continue to give my thoughts and feedback.

Nick

Rather then create a seperate review (ill do that once im 3/4 through my own tub) ill post my first time experience on here..

Taste -  Smells lovely (Smooth Lemon Ice) I went in at 2 scoops in 200ml of cold water. Wasnt very tasty lol ill be honest but not undrinkable either. In terms of lemon tasting flavour...think of an actual lemon and drinking its juice and your not far off the taste of this lol...so if u like lemons :P
        3/5

        Mixability - Mixed perfectly well
        5/5

Useage -  I was curious about this, having read comments from both Crafty and Vista yesterday, i decided to try 2 scoops myself, and gave a gym buddy a scoop and half to try, Hes stimulant tolerance is higher then mine id say. We both noted after 10-15 mins, a mild "feel good factor" and increased focus, wouldnt say anything wild, but could defently feel it kicking in. After our warmups we was ready to go. He was doing legs, me shoulders and tris. Now, after hed finished legs and id started triceps we both mentioned the pump, and it was really noticable on my shoulders and traps, nothing amazing but a preety solid pump neverthe less.
Focus remained constant, HOWEVER, we both noted by the end of our workouts, pump started to fade a crash set in, showing that the energy side of things slowly creeps up on you, and considering we both have medium to high tolerances, id class this as a high stim pre, but something that kicks in focus pump wise first, and energy towards the end (first preworkout ive noticed to do this, most are BAM hit hard and fast then peter out, others are a constant slow building drive, such as Noxpump so this was quite diffrent)

Will be hitting chest/bis as of monday, my m8 will be doing back, so ill take it down a scoop and a half this time and see how i get on.
        So to sumerise...

        - Decent pump, decent focus on 2 scoops
        - Good energy for first hour, then felt crashed (aka 2 scoops to much, which isnt a bad thing at all as a tub provides 45 scoops)
        - Overal had a good workout, pushed out a few more reps on all exercises and made 2 new PB`s (lying ez extentions, and cable side cross lateral raises)

            Re:AX Supersize Pre-Workout review 20 February 2012 19:32 (permalink)
Firstly, can I thank Muscle Finesse for sending me the free tub to review.
I've tried many pre-workouts over the past 2 years, the most recent being jack3d and prior to that I had finished a tub of the newer version of pre-surge unleashed. I was therefore interested to try this new approach to pre-workouts by AX.

Rightly or wrongly, when trying/reviewing a pre-workout I use jack3d as the bench mark. I believe it to be the king of all PW's but it may eventually be rivalled by the likes of Craze if they rectify the lack of sleep and appetite some users report (no sleep and no food = no growth) The downside to jack3d for me is the crash and tolerance build up but nevertheless a site I use has it at 8.6/10 following some 904 reviews, so I think it deserves respect.
            Anyway onto Supersize:

Taste - 3/10 - I tried 1 scoop at first with the recommended 8oz of water, no taste really and very disappointing but it is just a PW after all so it can be necked. 2 scoops gives you more flavour but it's not one that you will savour. Not the worst I've tried but not far off it. If others can get the taste palatable I think AX need to work on this.

Pump - 7/10 - The tub states 8 hour pumps!!!! I used this for an arms session and the pump is there but again, there are products which will give a better result in this department. For the record though, pump is not top of my list, I prefer energy when using these products.

Energy - 7/10 - No mad rush like jack3d but a nice increase in energy. I found 45 mins to 1 hour to be optimum from taking the product to the start of a workout. A couple of extra reps on top of what you would expect to do without the product is a reasonable expectation from 2 scoops.

Focus/Motivation - 8/10 - When it peaks, it makes you feel both focussed and motivated without the jitters. A general increase in wellbeing and the feeling that you've had a good workout which could go on for longer than usual.
I have experienced no crash with this product and no sleep problems.

Overall - 6/10 - I've scored it at a 6 as I believe the taste really lets it down and I also think the serving info is a little misleading. It states 45 servings but the small print says that 2-3 scoops is the usual dosage and 1 scoop is just for tolerance testing. I might seem harsh in my scoring but I've just finished using 2 of the most popular PW's out there, so it had a lot to live up to.
In summary, not one I would purchase in the future.

Nice views Vista m8, and funny you should mention that about Craze.. as i was using that before my Supersize tub arrived.. it does affect sleep, even at a lower dose...and for the first time (for me atleast) it really affected my appertite last week. That being said it is a good preworkout, so swings and roundabouts really.

In terms of AX Supersize...was my 2nd go of it today. Droped down to a scoop and a 1/3 as did my m8 who used the supersize with me the otherday. Did chest and bis today, normally id limit my chest to 2 main pushs some flys and crossovers, but today Supersize seemed to effect me, in a more posative way (unlike before, where i peaked and felt crashed out before the 2nd half of my workout that day).
To sumerise.. i was able to maintain my lifts, and add an extra rep or 2 to my Incline Dumbell, Flat Barbell, and even had enough in the tank to add a few kg to my dumbell decline press which i was happy about. Then finished with crossovers, 5 min break, and 3 bicep moves. I was eager to see today how good the pump from this actually was, and as Vista touched on, its good, not great and there are some better products out there for pump. It gives good all round effects, energywise, not much of a buzz, slow release of energy, very good focus but wouldnt quite say on par with Craze or Whiteflood v2.

So far i rate it and will be good to see how it holds up when i train Legs in 2 days time!

Good reviews guys! Not quite the claims the manufacturers make about it being the "Worlds strongest preworkout" !

Reasonably priced i guess though and it looks 1,3 free which is a bonus to me these days !

                You tried Charge yet Liam?

Yeah thats a good point m8, the price in comparison to most isnt to bad, im only using a scoop and a bit atm, as 2 scoops was too strong for me, and my tolerance is medium at the best of times!
Ive yet to try Charge no, i see BBW are doing samples now, so im sure ill get round to trying it somestage anyways lol. I rated the DY NoxPump which this is based on so i think ill rate Charge, as it contains more actives looking at  the ingrediant breakdown.

Still think the strongest preworkout ive ever tryed was the orginal DY Nox by Ultimate Formulas...jesus lol... allthought 2 scoops of Hemo Rage Black wasnt far off the mark either :P

I am giving a few servings to some friends at my gym to get their input too.  They are different sizes, train differently, have different stim tolerances, etc..........so again it will be interesting to see how they get on.

I'm just going to write a paragraph or two to review AX Supersize rather than split it into sections.

I've been using it for nearly a week now and like many people, I find the taste is pretty bad. The first time I had it, it reminded me of some cheap alcopop and was a bit of a struggle to get down but I've gotten used to it over the past week. I've been using 2 scoops per workout and haven't experienced any problem with sleep or crashes whatsoever. On the other hand, I don't feel particularly full of energy when going in to the gym so I don't feel it does much for energy or focus for me personally.

I feel the product is mainly trying to promote the pumps that it's supposed to give and I did get a big pump from this product. Most of my training is heavy, low rep work but I was supersetting some light, high rep bicep curls with rack pulls last night to try and help with my elbow tendinitis and my biceps were massively pumped and still so when I went to bed.

To summarise: taste is bad, energy/focus wasn't great (although no crash or lack of sleep/appetite for me). "The pump" isn't important to me but if you love a good pump then this might be the product for you.

Okay just to report back on my Leg day. 1 and half scoops, same thoughts as before nothings changed interms of focus, you remained locked in and kinda drown out noise and other people, which suits me tbh. Pumps were felt in my quads, and esspecially in my calves, almost painfull at times. Had a good workout, and it obviously does give you some "subtle" energy, as i made 3 new PBs today and got my whole leg workout done in 1 hour 10 so i was pleased with that. After a few uses i can confirm this is much more of a pump/focus pre, then the typical energy/endurance types such as ones ive reviewed more recently. That being said, you do get some energy..HOWEVER...this is the 2nd time ive felt crashed out/overfocused after a workout using Supersize (having crashed on 2 scoops, have lowered to 1 and a half and still felt a bit ****y after workout)

Plusses and minuses with this one...so ill post up a full review once ive worked through more of the tub.
So far im impressed with the pump and focus aspect, but the sides, taste and lack of energy or get up and go kinda let this product down slightly, but as i said ive only used 4 times now (m8 has used twice and has similair feedback to me) so yeah :P

                            Hi guys,

Great reviews! Let me first just say that I'm a representative from Athletic Xtreme, I was just searching around different reviews for UR and SS, and found this.

Just wanted to fill in that the first batch of SuperSize had a problem with the taste... It was bad, very tart... Don't really have a clue what went wrong really....

But for all you who liked the product, I can announce that we have fixed the problem and all new SuperSize will have the new improved taste!

Hope I didn't break any rules or so, Just wanted to inform you guys about the taste :)

A sample would be great and then I would reconsider my rating. I've stopped taking my tub for the time being as it was making me feel a bit sick.

I have been using this and still seeing good performance but the taste makes me gag!!

I have been sharing my wealth too as I have been giving some of this to a few friends at the gym to see how they get on with it, essentially obtaining more reviews and its interesting to see how different people respond to the same product.

I will log a detailed review over the weekend when I get a bit more time.

                                  Hi Vista,

Sorry for the late reply, my kid have been at the hospital the last few days, so I haven't had the time to be online...

What do you think of this idea... What if I could hook you up with a tube of SuperSize (with the new improved taste) in exchange for your honest review over at SupplementReviews and here ofc...
No matter if its good or bad, as long as it's honest...

I'd be happy to do a new review with the new batch. I was one of 4 people on here chosen to review the original tub and as you can see from my review, I didn't go much on the taste!
