Alternative to Wide Grip Chin Ups

Anyone reccomend something different to working the back to shape the V-Taper Done Wide grip chin ups and using machine. was thinking using cables, i.e doing holdng cables from above head and bringing them down so that their far out by the sides. kinda like opening a book movement so that cables are going cross ways ?
