Do any of the supplement companies make anything like 'amino patches' (similar to nicotine patches) that an athlete could wear whist asleep, to deliver a constant supply of protein?

        Because:

        1) We're supposed to consume foods enterally: hence we have digestive systems

        2) There'd be risk of infection

        3) Come on - gimmick!

I've been glueing the same rump streak to my chest every night for the past five years and it's got me absolutely nowhere. Perhaps what I need is amino patches... patches like nicotine patches but full of amino acids that I can stick to my skin at night.

lol OP, what do you do on a Sunday, strap a roast dinner to your head and hope it goes in through your scalp? Just eat some food mate.

The fact that every amino acid contains both a basic amino group (positively charged) and an acidic carboxylic acid group (negatively charged) alone is enough to show it is a terrible idea lol.  Charged species would not make it through the skin very well and even if they did, only the very highly lipophilic aminos would make it.  You would also cut down how much made it, transdermals in many cases can only absorb a fraction of other dosage forms.  There is just no point, eating some deli meat would provide more ;).

LoL, yeah that is the best way to go.  I used to just eat a can of tuna before bed or eat some cottage cheese, but to each their own ;).

What do you guys recommend for those really long zzzz's.

I mean if you want to get 10+ hours of quality undisrupted sleep. How much and what to consume?

                        60g of casien with bcaa's?

The 60g yes, the BCAA no.

The drip idea has been suggested before (rumoured use, never proven). Not a viable option. For a start the body takes what it needs from food (as James says much more preferable) and a drip would be, for want of a better phrase, forcing in amounts not necessarily required. It's why their are tubes with Entera (sp) which go in the gut and not the blood stream.
