Any of you ladies not drink protein shakes?

my missus is really getting into the gym now and I feel like we're progressing past the stage of 'stick to your normal diet' and slowly venturing into a diet better suited to her goals. She's really up for this but sadly due to an upbringing of being force fed food she didn't like and particularly medicines etc she can't bring herself to even try a protein shake - which is fair enough I know her well enough to back down I just wondered how many ladies with the aim of building muscle and eating more of a body building style diet don't have protein shakes or - even better didn't fancy the idea of them but have found something palatable? thanks for your help

How about mixing protein into a thick paste to spoon it.....like Angel Delight? That's how I like to eat mine....works well.

Exactly that! I don't really like protein shakes as they just seem too watery and "nothing" to me. So I make it up really thick as Lou says, or heat up some milk (non dairy is my choice) and then whisk the PP in (hot chocolate - my last meal of choice at the mo!) Or make endless varieties of "cakes", pancakes etc etc with protein powder. Shakes are v boring!

I know a female pro who never drank protein shakes. They made her gag. She got all her protein in food.

Another well known Pro BB, Valentina Chepiga also never drank protein shakes and relied on real food for her nutritional needs. Protein shakes aren't a necessity but mostly used for convenience.

I only drink Protein shakes when I absolutely HAVE to... a scoop with oatmeal, made into porridge... or Lou's 'pudding' way is how I up the protein levels on days when I don't/can't get all of my food intake in.

I stopped drinking them... mainly because my diet is more paleo/primal orientated so I'm big into 'real food' rather than synthetic stuff. however, the problem I have is that I'm also big into big portions of real food so I'm at the point where I need to lose body fat and therefore cut cals. I don't want to sacrifice muscle in the process (although I realise that will inevitably happen with weight loss, I just want to minimise it as much as possible). So I'm investigating low/zero lactose options and will see how I go (and how much I have to spend!!) It's perfectly possible to get all your protein needs from your food, it just might push up your cals unless you're eating pure sources like chicken breast, tuna etc she could always try mixing natural whey protein in food to bump up the protein content if she wasn't getting enough?
