Integra Mr.M biggest guy in the division, and probs one of the fittest Not any more he isnt! ur right mate.. wouldnt be surprised if thats the last we see of Brock t be honest... shame as wouold have been interesting to see him fight someone good.. may never see it now.. would have liked overeem in the UFC to fight him, as fedor would without doubt be a step too far imo.. goat- nelson is a pro mate!! he's been a pro for a while.. and as Daz said, to drop 10-15% BF and replace the weight with muscle weight would take yrs..somethin somoene like him would obviosly not be prepared to sacrifice as he would slip even further down the ladder..

dazc you have no idea of the amount of work what your suggesting would take. absoloutely no idea. and it would require drugs use too. sure, say he would be better if he lost a bit of fat, i actually agree with that bit to a point, but to then causually tag onto the end of that 'and replace it with muscle' just shows you have no idea what it takes to build a large lean physique. and thats without fight training. and there are situations where just being heavier is a distinct advantage. full mount for example, the more weight the less chance of losing it. I never said anything would be easy and I'm not trying to say what he should now do in his career. This thread hasn't got anything to do with how hard it is to drop fat and build muscle. I never at any point said that Nelson should do this or that I just made the statement that if he had to drop his bf by 15% and replace that with muscle that he would be a better/stronger fighter which proves my point below. People say that physique plays little part in it and I disagree. Its not rocket science, its like looking at someone with 35% BF and saying that they will be a better marathon runner if they had to drop their bf to 15%. Thats not saying anything about how hard it would be to do that or how long it would take.

Well I guess that statement sums up your train of thought perfectly. I'm over it.

But its not about having the best looking physique, surely the high levels of stamina required mean that a hard trainer will not carry huge amounts of fat?

Exactly right odog, look at the old school guys like Dan Severn and Oleg Taktarov - they had excellent condition but 'poor' physiques. My favourite MMA physique has always been Ken Shamrock. Pat Smith used to be in good condition but then obviously lost it all when he spent the time in jail for messing with a minor

using Mark Coleman as an example, a better* physique doesn't necessarily equate to improved performance. Coleman has quite an asthetically pleasing physique, but he gasses and fades within round one of his fights. His physique just isn't functional for his sport anymore... *in the BB sense of the word

This thread is stupid. 1. More muscle means more oxygen requirement. Cant make you lungs any bigger can you. 2. Tested sport would mean you shouldnt be using gear. Generally (and I have found this), you are stronger when at higher levels of fat and can feel a bit lethargic at low levels of fat. 3. lose 20lbs and gain it back in muscle when near the top of the "training ladder"? Fcuk off please love the Tyson now pic
