Arms, twice a week 31 December 2008 15:36 (permalink)
I think im right in saying that smaller muscles recover quicker than large ones. The job i do requires no lifting, so arms don't get used a lot. A know arms get involved with all the other exercise's
, but do you think it would be ok to train them twice a week.

you could train one moderate to heavy, then train 3-4days later but lighter maybe or

on bicep day i finish my back workout with
standing barbell curls 3 or sets 15/20 proper form really controlled
    then
    hammer curls 4 x  8-12
then reverse grip lat pulldown 3 x 12 heavy

Yes, you'd be ok to train them twice a week. If you train them hard enough your triceps might have a problem recovering, but see how it goes.

I meant why just arms twice a week and not the rest? 7 days is a long time to rest/recover.

I work my arms twice directly over 6 days because they are lagging, as are my calves which I intend to start training 3 times per training week.

If you think that you are training your arms once a week already, then you are probably already training them twice or even three times.

When you train your back with any type of pulls or rows then you are hitting your biceps a  second time. If you are training chest or shoulders with presses (almost inevitable) then you are training triceps a second or even third time.

This will only just allow your arms to recover, but you might get your biceps in a second time and still recover. As I said before give it a try and see how you get on.

I don't think i could handle two tricep workouts a week. I tend to keep triceps a least two days apart from my chest workout. I don do biceps on back day. I get a better pump when trained on sparate days.
Because I train natural, i feel training other bodyparts more than once a week too much.
