Avoid muscle breakdown?? 10 March 2010 21:01 (permalink)
Alright guys

Can someone explain this concept of avoiding muscle breakdown to me? I know some supplements can achieve this such as Glutamine, however I always believed that muscle growth occured as a result of muscle fibres being broken down and repaired. So why would someone want to avoid this with supplements, if they want to build muscle?

Thank you very much

Generally there are two forms of muscle breakdown:

1: Breakdown through resistance training. But really it's small tears in the muscle itself that results in swelling

2: Breakdown through coritsal. This form is through stress or overtraining that will result in a loss of muscle rather than the development of it.

So to stop bad muscle breakdown avoid over training or stressful enviroments. Glutamine and other products assist in the swift recovery of muscle breakdown after effective training.

    hope that helps
