Hi Has anyone taken part in any BDFPA competitions? How long is the pause on the bench press? Cheers

Hello mate, The bar must be motionless on the chest before a press command will be given. Now if you lower the weight and stop it under control, then you will get a relatively quick press command (0.5 - 1 second), however if the bar is brought down at a rate of knots, and moves on your chest for a moment or two - the press command will take longer to come (1-2 seconds). It's all down to the discretion on the centre referee, but the above are good guidelines to get you started :) Macca

As Macca said the 'pause' is simimply the time from the refferee seeing the bar has become motionless to you hearing his press command. You'll find that the term 'pause' isn't mentioned in the rule book.
