Back/Tris Workout 27 February 2010 20:59 (permalink)
Hi all! I'm training back and tri's on Monday and thought I would post up my routine to see if you think I am on the right lines?

I am introducing dicipline (!!) into my training so planning my workouts in advance and posting in my journal.
I want to gain muscle but also lean up, would appreciate any advice - I am determined to do chin ups unassisted (short term goal!)

I am aiming for 3 sets on each exercise (not including light warm up set)

Back
Assisted wide chin ups
Lat Pulldowns
Seated Cable rows  or T-Bar Row?
Single Arm db row
DB Pullovers

Triceps
Cable Pushdowns superset with Rope Pullovers
Dips
Lying EZ French Press

Appreciate any feedback - thanks for your help
Kels x

I would drop one of the rowing exercises and if db pullovers are what I think you mean then they're a chest exercise really.  If you go heavy enough then 9 sets would be fine for your back but no need to go beyond 12.

That's a funny one actually on the pullovers - I know literature says pullovers are for the Chest, but unless I voluntarily squeeze my pectorals at the end of the motion, I only feel it in my lats...

When I used to do a Back/Chest split I used to use it as my in between exercise to split the two bodyparts :-)

Well the lats do act in a synergist role but as it's not the primary muscle used it's not really a good option to choose it as one of the back exercises. I did the same when I used to do back and chest together too actually

Thanks for advice appreciate it - will drop one of the rows, not sure which will make that decision when I get to gym.

Yes it's what you thought on db pullovers.  I tend to feel them right into my lats, never in the chest. I don't normally train chest and back together and have never put pullovers with chest.  So thanks for info will use this program tomorrow xx

Kels, do a different row each workout if you can't decided.
