I know how you feel mate. I was the same. I had hardly any upper body strength but alot in my legs. I have just got to 50 kilo bench press from 20 kilo in 3 months. This is how i did it. I go by 5x5 and train mon, wed, fri and i do full body. adding weight little but often. When i started with just the bar (20 kilo) i couldnt complete 5 full sets. BUT... when i did complete 5 full sets i added 5 kilo untill i could do 5 full sets of that weight, then i added another 5. so on and so forth....... My goal is being able to bench 60 kilo by the end of this month. Good luck

When I first started bout 4/5 months ago I was fairl skinny and weak. But i could still do 65kg 5 x 5 as a start. In that time I can now lift 112kg 5x5 flat and 90 incline 5x5. All i would recommend is to get in the calories and always lift the heaviest you can manage and give yourself atleast 3 days rest on chest before lifting again. Worked for me.

use you tube and search for something like 'bench press form' or technique. it really does make the difference. its not just lay on bench grab bar and rep xtimes.
could be worse you could be a tellytubbie 15inch ripped biceps/TRICEPS will always look bigger than 19inch flabby arms

90kg for a relative beginner is ok. Just stick to e decent well balanced programme, with lots of big compound movements. Keep your form good and concentrate on prgress. If you plateau, which it sounds like you have, there's no point keeping on doing the same old rubbish and failing after 3 reps at 90. Change something.Try reducing the weight and upping the reps for a while, then go back to it. Try drop sets. Move to DB's for a month or so. Swap it up and just do fly's for a couple of weeks. Anyhthing that'll shock the body into change. This way, when you go back, it might take a few lifts to get back to your PB's but when you do there's every chance you can smash your plateau. Sometimes you have to play the long game.

Thanks Bollard, I use to go to the gym for nearly 3 years, had a brake for about 1,5-2 years, and last August got back to the gym, but even by the end of my 3rd year I was weak on bench, my body (arms,shoulders,back.....chest) was looking good I was 14.2st not much body fat, as far I was consern, I'm 12,9st now and some lads smaller than me lifting hell of a lot more on bench, so a bit embarresment for me. Thank you anyway mate!
