Best Hot Hatch?

Well personally I am a massive Jap car fan and am soon to collect an EP3 Honda Civic Type R final edition. May not necessarily the fastest in a straight line but that vtec engine can only be described as orgasmic! What's your thoughts.....?

Prefer the bigger Jap cars such as the Nissan GT-R, But if I had to have a hatchback id get that Renault Clio where they ripped the back seats out and stuffed in a 3ltr V6 in the back

I like the Civic Type R but prefer the SEAT Leon Cupra - have had a few Cupras over the years and just love em! If I did less miles than I do now I would have one again.

I like the Toymota starlets, 1.3, low tax band and easily tuned to 250bhp+ Couldn't keep up with my mates at castle combe in my 290bhp scoob barge. Hatches are boring anyway, its all about the estates :)

Its going to get a whole lot better in the next month, the twin turbos are being ditched for a bigger single. I won't derail the thread with my heap, I could write pages on my old jap cars, love messing around with cars. Even my missis is a petrol head with a 400bhp+ supra. Going back to the hatches, the new focus RS' and Astra VXRs are very quick and capable cars! Does the Audi TT count as a hatch :) Cause the TTRS is a monster after a remap, not much call for emergency hair dressers though.

S3 both new shape and old are ridiculous and handle awesomely. Look great, luxury inside, 4WD so still work in the snow. They get my vote every time. Clio cup's are loads of fun. Cupra R has the same engine if i'm not mistaken as the S3? 1.8T and the new 2.0 t? Just they are FWD. Much prefer the S3 every day of the week. My mate has a Focus ST and I don't really like them all that much. Good cars though. Type R's EP3 in White look awesome! Great every day cars aswell. Similar MPG to the S3. Honda reliability has gotta count for something.

Honda reliability has gotta count for something. They do look immense in white but apart from the 30th anniversary edition they didn't make EP3s in championship white so most of them are spray jobs which more often than not pretty poor. It's all about nighthawk black :D In my opinion Honda reliability is unmatched the vtec engine to my knowledge hasn't had a single failure!

Good shout on the Nighthawk black! My best mate had one in Red which looks good as well. His dad just bought him an M5 in black, safe to say I hate him. Yeah apparently since its release they haven't had a single engine failure.

Always fancied an S3. Bloody expensive if it goes wrong though! Not sure if it went into production but the 400bhp Volvo C30 that was on Top Gear was quality. Or the slightly chavvy looking focus RS500

I've got a golf V6 4motion. Ok it's a poorman's R32 but sooooo understated it's unreal

Is that Golf a 4WD like the R32 Rack? That's the issue with most hot hatches, they are mostly front wheel drive with offensive amounts of understeer, there are a few 4WD exceptions.

The new Audi RS3. 335bhp (same engine as the TTRS) 0-60 in 4.6sec and 4WD. £40k for a hatchback is a bit steep though!

Didn't we once talk about you wanting to put some huge block into the back of a old-school mini cooper, which was equally as scary! Im sure it was you!!

I am not into hot hatches but if I had to buy one, it would be an R32 golf, high spec possible

Metro 6R4 = wet pants. Only ever seen 1 in the flesh, I nearly crashed gawping at it!! Such a shame that group B was discontinued for making such frankly dangerous cars - 410BHP in their 'max' form, fecking bonkers I've not personally done anything like that, no, however I've got a bucket list of minis I'd build if I won the lottery, certainly including a V8 rear engined one (though in this scenario the V8 is 2 hayabusha engines spliced together...)

Bit Surprised no one else has said it but what about the Rnaultsport Megane R26?? It's widely regarded as just about the finest hot hatch money can buy. The 225 is pretty good as well but the R26 added so much more... Better Suspension (Cup Chasis I think came as standard on the R26) LSD An extra 5 Bhp Proper Tasty Trendline Recaro's Nicer Multi Spoke Alloys If you could get them in 5 Door I'd be all over one like a rash but being as they are 3 Door only I'm having to look at getting one of the last 225's in 5 door to replace my Leon Cupra & then buy a LSD & replace the front seats with some Trendlines. Other's to look at would be the... Skoda Octavia VRs Seat Leon FR / Cupra / K1 Focus ST Mazda 3 MPS (be warned though these fall in the £445 per year Tax bracket!!) Alfa Romeo 147 GTA Astra VXR Nurberg Edition Corsa VXR Audi S3 Think thats the lot ;) Neil
