Wouldn't you need to have a few depletion workouts first, then you get a better effect from the carb load due to glycogen supercompensation?

As for food types, highly individual from everything I have read- some use oats, but they bloat others. What have you used previously and did it work?

I started my deplete for the shape up comp on sunday, will be chomping carbs from saturday.

My choices - pizza, burgers, chips, etc - i.e. ****loading

Hopefully it will work well, otherwise.... bugger!

I'll be doing my shots on the monday night, will keep total food intake reasonably low through the day, mainly fats & protein as I figure what carbs I may need if I'm not full enough, which I'll then have as fairly simple options - sugar probably (!) - in the evening to try and get as big an insulin kick as possible.

You need to experiement before hand to find what carbs do and do not work for you as everyone reacts differently.

keep it simple, use foods that are relatively easy to digest - last thing you need is stomach problems

Not done a show prep myself so bear that in id, i have carbed up a few times after depeting.

I found whats best is starchy carbs, no wheat as such. So basmati rice, sweet potato, polenta and tapoica all worked very well for me.

From a few of the contest prep posts I've read sweet pots seem to be a popular choice

My thinking is "what sort of eating is most likely to make me put on fat", i.e. what sort of food will create biggest insulin spike, followed by biggest glycogen laydown - refined carbs & omega 6/sats

Hence ****loading thinking - nice pizza & burger, etc.

Not doing it for long enough to promote huge fat gain, and a bit of dehydration from lager should keep me from spilling over.

baked potatoes are a popular choice

from what i have been told, oats are to be avoided as they cause water retention

I was just about to ask about oats! I'm always given them but have been told firmly from someone else who knows a lot too NOT to carb up on them...
