So I went to watch Boar compete in a little comp at a new gym in Preston this morning, only to be talked into entering once I got there! Really glad I did because I came 2nd! Couldn't believe it! And the winner....? Boar only went and won it!! So Team Muscletalk- 1st Boar, 2nd 1ManRiot! Boar won himself a sexy little trophy to boot! http://www.facebook.com...=249075916559&ref=ss www. exertrain.com Events were: 100% Body weight deadlift (most reps in 1 minute) 2000m Row (fastest time wins) 100% Body Weight Drag (fastest time over 20m) Tyre flip 10 flips (fastest time wins) Pictures and videos to follow when Boar gets out the bath!

Ballbag AKA onefatidiot How did you find the rowing in the end? Considering I've never really rowed in my life, I got quite into it! I went with the mentality of not going balls out from the off, just find a nice steady rhythm and stick with it. Picked my speed up nicely, used massive big strokes making the most of every pull and it went ok. I was extending so far though that I fell off the seat and wasted a good few seconds on that! Brucieflea awesome well done lads Boarpower He had your lucky boots on mate!

I used to row at college and nearly threw up quite often lol Using your arms on the pull is the key. Keep it up mate

Keep it up mate Yeah the burning in my legs set in quite early, so focused on getting the handle all the way to the front and leaned back bringing the handle high up to my neck on the back strokes, really maximised the travel on each stroke. Enjoyed it! Love to have seen how I'd have done if I'd prepared for it! Only ate 3 slices of toast and some rasberry whey LOL

so how fast did you row 2000m mate? I was working with a lad last week and he enters indoor rowing comps. He did 6 minutes something for 2000m but I dunno how good or bad that is. How many deads did you do and how heavy? Well done both
It's finally arrived....PM Neb for swaps!

Neb so how fast did you row 2000m mate? I was working with a lad last week and he enters indoor rowing comps. He did 6 minutes something for 2000m but I dunno how good or bad that is. How many deads did you do and how heavy? Well done both Don't quote me on these figures as I'm not 100%, but I did the row in 7 mins 40ish I think? Perhaps Boar can confirm? Not bad for untrained, and the staff said that I lost a good few seconds by stopping to put my feet back in the strap and then falling off the seat! Deadlifts were 90kg, I did 40 odd of them? Boar might recall numbers a bit better. Boar did the row quicker than me and did more deadlifts than me. I was quickest in the comp on the backwards sled pulling thing, and I must have finished pretty high up on the tyre flip too. Tyre flp was tricky as the type was only about 100kg, so it rolled a lot when it landed so you struggled to get any rhythm going

Absolutely amazing. Sub 7 mins is very impressive. Considering you didn't specifically train for it even more impressive. What were the other results? How many others competed? Pictures and videos to follow when Boar gets out the bath!
This is quite disconcerting though. All sounds a bit Morecombe & Wise to me......

JimRat That sounds like a really fun comp! Can't wait to see the pics. Jimbo Was good fun, though the rowing dragged on, they should have has two rowing machines really. Nearly 2 hours from the first competitor to the last, which meant some where going into the final two events refreshed, and some still jelly-legs from the rowing! I'd recommend entering comps though for those who think about it and don't do it. I'm glad I did now.

6.50 is really that good?...he did say that one of the GB team rowers were in the same comp and rowed 6.13. I just assumed it muse be crap cause he isn't athletic, is a big drinker and regular coke user. He has a Concept 2 in his garage that he trains on regularly. Good going that 1mr

Considering you didn't specifically train for it even more impressive. Ignore that. I thought Neb's post was 1MR's time. I'be just checked the Concept2 official rankings and 7:40 would rank you as #1. That is assuming you were a lightweight woman aged 60-65!!! I remember checking my PB and being very humbled by seeing 12 year olds trouncing my time!!
