Boogaloo's attempt at the 2012 SUC
08 January 2012 15:43
( permalink)
Right well I thought I would put my name in the hat and see how this goes. I lost 21 lb at the start of this year only to have gained 13 lb back I intend to use this SUC as a motivation to lose the weight I've gained and then some..... If I can. Photos will be posted later along with stats.

Mergal good luck Boogaloo! :) Thanks Mergal. The hard bit was getting the photos on and comparing them to the last SUC I entered a couple of years back and realising that I'm in exactly the same situation as I was back then.

Ive also realised that in my "almost" mid 30's I've turned into my mother. She is the exact same shape. Like a bloomin egg on legs. Thats what I remind myself of. One of the egg cups with legs. lol! Oh well onwards and downwards (with the scale).

So day one begins. I plan on maintaining my calories to around 1200 a day whilst doing some form of exercise at least 5 times a week and this will be mainly cardio with some cardo based resistance training thrown in for good measure. My fitness levels arent too bad despite lugging around extra weight. I can easily pass the Armed Forces Fitness Test (I'm in the RAF) but there has been no structure to my training over the last few months. Hence the weight gain. The same could be said for my diet. I work away from home mon-fri and have regularly fallen into the trap of convenience food. Purely out of laziness. So I intend to add more structure to my meals and plan ahead.

It comes down to planning and organisation with your diet, especially for you as you work away, I try and plan 3-4 days ahead and cook in bulk then refridgerate and its less of a hassle than cooking fresh all the time.
Its never to late to become what you might have been !

Well the planning and organising is in full swing. Meals are sorted for the rest of the week. I should have gone for a run earlier but just couldn't face it. I bloody hate mondays as its day 1 away from home and hubby and i usially feel a bit sorry for myself. I did manage to get to gym after tea for 40 mins of SS cardio though. Food today was: Cereal (30g) with skimmed milk. Omelette, a teaspoon of baked beans and 2 new potatoes. Diced chicken, mixed peppers, onions and a tortilla wrap. Low fat fromage frais.

45 minutes of running at lunch time today. Thought i was going to die if truth be told. But that done and out of the way and I feel better for it. Temptation is banging my door down already though as we had a snacks and nibbles day in work before xmas and the stuff we had left over (biscuits, crisp, choccies) have just been put out in the office. Ive just checked the calories in one chocolate and it 56!!!! Thats 5 mins of cardio per chocolate. Just not worth it! Also off round to a friends tonight for pizza. Ive called her in advance to ask if she would be offended if I took my own dinner round. Thankfully she's not. So i wont feel too deprived whilst they chow down on deep pan stuffed crust ss I will have my tupperware of chicken and veggies!

Pizza well and truly resisted. So pleased with myself tonight. Ive definately got a kettlebell workout tomorrow and perhaps a spinning class if I can get away from work early. We shall see. If I am strict exercise wise through the week I can ease off at weekend and just chill out with Mr Boogaloo!

Good luck boogaloo. I know all about the problems of temptation at work. We have chocolates, krispy kremes, pizzas etc all the time around my buidling. Struggling already and its only been a couple of days.

Ok so another day done. Have kept to my calorie count so far and if anything have been slightly under which I know can be detrimental in its own way so will need to get some snacks such as fruit or nuts for between meals. Gym wise was the reverse of what I expected as when i mentioned that I was debating running a spinning class, a few of my collegues said they would come along. So no kettlebell workout today just 50 mins of spinning. Will definately be doing kettlebells at lunch tomorrow and then maybe a run tomorrow night as I suspect Friday could be a write off as thats when I will be driving home for the weekend snd I know all I will want to do is curl up on the sofa and catch up with everything I have sky +'d Just hope I can stick to it over the weekend. My first "weigh in" will be Saturday morning and Im already looking forward to it.

Good day diet wise as I have stayed within my calories but on the exercise front I just CBA! I eventually did my kettlebell workout at 7pm as I couldnt handle the guilt of not doing anything :( Tomorrow will be an off day with regard to exercise due to the drive back home but I still plan on sticking to it diet this weekend as I think it is far too soon for cheat days/meals. Mr Boogaloo is also having a new year health kick and we can sometimes be our own worst enemies. So the plan is to exercise together. In fact I think we are going shopping for a bike on Saturday morning as some theiving toe-rag nicked mine out of the garden last year. ROLL ON WEIGH IN DAY!

Yay! 4lb lost in 6 days! Im certainly not expecting that every week but it was just the start I needed. Mr boogaloo has lost 5lb this week so all is good in the Boo household! As predicted I did no exercise yesterday and today Im off to buy a new bike and will decide later if I will be running spinning or doing some free weights. Maybe a mix of all 3.
