Bouncers on C4 now

Not sure what im making of this so far. They've deliberately selected love them or hate them bouncers i think. Regardless tho they look to have a pretty tough job to do in newport lol I have a lot of respect for most bouncers i know so I really hope this is gonna be a fair show and not show them as bully boys/girls

theyre generally a love them or hate them bunch though. plenty of scumbag bouncers, who are some of the worst people on the planet and also plenty of legend bouncers who are sound and up for a laugh but do their job effectively and professionally
Current goals: get back in the game

I packed the doors in just over 7 years ago now and so much has changed. It seems now, and this show confirms it, that anyone who can pass the crb check and is "eligible" for a sia badge who applies works the doors. Take last night, there was a lad who was about 12 stone working the doors on his own (which i think is pathetic anyway no matter how big/handy you are) with the confidence that when it kicks off if it gets out of hand he's got a radio..... The amount of really young lads I see working the doors with no size worries me, not for me, but for them. They love standing on the front chatting the birds up but feel so sorry for them when 4 big fellas kick off. BTW, I was only 20 when I started the doors but had been gyming since 15 and doing thai boxing for years and olympic wresting, greco roman etc (before everyone thought they were a cage fighter lol) so at least brought something to the game. Be honest did anyone watch the show last night and think, he/they're fooked if it goes off, or was it just me?

I quite enjoyed the show, something different and gives a tiny insight into the life of a few bouncers. Was it a one off or a series?
I love the smell of steak in the morning...

Yeah I did wonder about that bloke working the door on his own, although I'm guessing that most of the punters are young and smaller than he is. Newport looks like an awful place.

Doesnt matter how young/smaller they are (although tbh he was tiny and even admitted the lesbians were butcher/bigger than him) if a few of them kick off, he'l be in the sh1t

Did the guy working in the pawnbrokers say he used to get a 9 grand bonus at the end of every month when he worked in insurance? Yeah ok, buddy.

EnfantTerrible Did the guy working in the pawnbrokers say he used to get a 9 grand bonus at the end of every month when he worked in insurance? Yeah ok, buddy. Why not? People in our network do 30k a month in insurance, if you can sell you can make a fortune especially in the 'boom' period like he mentioned. Thats selling life protection. Take for example you sell general insurance, if you manage to broke cover for a large national companies premises, you'd earn 100's of thousands in commission. Thats not likely I agree, but I don't know where he worked or how good he was.

Of course it's possible but now the guy is working in a pawnbroker's on minimum wage. Could be telling the truth, just seems a little unlikely to me. Someone on that sort of money must have a good skill set and be able to do a little better than a minimum wage job, even in a recession. The market might not be flourishing like it once was but there still **** loads of jobs out there for someone with skills.

I didn't see this and I lived in Newport for a few years. Its a rough old place and has attitude to match, we even had bouncers on the doors of Wetherspoons at the weekends! When it kicked off it really kicked off. I was lucky because I got to know the bouncers at the time because I worked in the pubs, so everyone got to know me and it helped, it really did. Although Newport is a big student place because of the Uni in Caerleon, which is probably why a young lad would be on the door but they were huge when I was there and I agree that the certification has changed the job a lot.

The industry he was talking about though especially before the crash was a bit like any man and his dog could earn decent money, if you were good at sales even more so. Once everything crashed most people fcuked off as everything wasnt quite so 'handed on a plate'.

The bloke said that he had multiple cars and two houses, I must admit, I did start to smell BS. Unless of course they were tiny houses and clapped out boy racer old bangers. We've got bouncers outside our weatherspoons here in leatherhead, and leatherhead's just a sleepy, leafy retirement town :)

I always used to find it strange that in Newport people would spend more on their cars than there home and yet begrudge paying for the house?

followed 3 jacket fillers and an unprofessional company recruiting drunks off the street for a 'major contract'. Made the entire door industry look like idiots.
