Is the fasting causing you to lose any weight or possibly the exact opposite because your body is trying to hold on to its fat as its been starved for that many hours a day?

actually i lost alot of fat in the thigh area which is where i tend to hold fat, and my weight is up 3 kgs till now so i am very happy. when u fast one of the health benefits is that it gives the pancreas a good break so any movement or even reading studying thinking - which burns alot of cals btw- takes its energy from the available fat stores where they're burned in the liver for supplying energy. thats why i was telling u iam planning on fasting a couple of days a week after ramadan ends.

if u want to i can write u alist of fasting benefits.

Ah k then. Just googled some of the benefits of fasting. Seems really interesting but I enjoy my food too much and very much dislike being hungry :P. Interesting to see that its actually possibly to gain size while fasting.

You seem to like your steaks don't you? :P

ya , every year in the past when it was ramadan i'd stop training and eat like a pig thinking that iam losing mass , and after ramadan i'd start training again but i was always getting fat this way. then i read a couple of books that said that u can train  and preserve muscles. i tried and i gained muscle mass iam actually very happy.

lol about the steaks i live with my parents so i eat what my mum cooks , but i have directed her towards some healthy foods like grilled chicken and beef instead of fried and this week she made steaks so i dived into them :D other wise i eat chicken which i got sick of been eating it for the past year without any changes .

hey mate..
just had a read thru and ur journal looks v interesting mate!!
reagrds to ur weight sessions, i see u have said previously u enjoy push / pull splits, or lower/ upper.. have a lookinto the DC routine that i have just started to follow..
its pretty much a lower/ upper split and im lovin it right now.. everythin gets hit 3 times every 2 wk period so u'll still be keeping frequency high as u do with ur current routine!!

anyway, keep up the good work mate..
o to live in a place where steroids can be bought over the counter!!! haha.. maybe one day i'll be in ur position too mate!!

Good work bro. Pics are looking good. Your lifts are impressive. I had to lookup hack squats to see what they were. Do you do this because you have no squat rack or do you simply prefer them? They must be good for grip.

Now that you have just bought some new supplements, use that as motivation to keep your diet clean.

You gotta think to yourself that everytime you binge you are setting yourself back and effectively wasting your time and money!

Your lifts are impressive man. Now that I've started training and realising how hard different exercises are, I'm impressed. Sounds like rowing season is going to be instense for you man.

so interms of weight trainin mate, wat will u be doin when the rowing season starts??
or do u stay away from the weights really during the season???
was going to say, if u are rowing 2-4 hrs a day easily, and ur still wantin to train with weights, id suggest dropping the volume down a fair bit mate.. concentrate on 3-4 exercises, maybe a couple of body parts, or split it into upper/ lower etc...
cos the sessions ur doin now, coupled with an intense rowing session like u've described, imo would be too much fella!!
kepe truckin tho mate.. looks like its goin well!!

Re:from a rower to a beast, we shall see - 23 September 2008 05:20
thnx warren ,  its going to be a rough season since iam still going to freshman year and i don't know anything about college :D .

the training is really tough but last year durning season we were training with moderate weights with high reps 3-4 times a week doing 40-60 reps squats leg presses cleans high pulls pullups dips pushups . and the other week we would do heavy singles for the above mentioned excercises.

but i talked to my coach and i told him that i really want to bodybuild because sooner or later i'll quit rowing and i don't want to end up a skinny dude so he set the rules no more than 3 days a week no isolation energy wasting excercises no more than 30 mins in the gym.

so i came up with this i'll begin training this way from the 7th of october or maybe the first of october we'll see.
if any one has any modifications please tell me.

Day1:
A1) DB bench press
A2) BB row
B1) squats
B2) barbell cleans and presses

Day2:
A1) dead lifts
A2) shoulder db presses

B1) db lunges
B2) weighed chins or pulldowns

C1) incline db presses
Aux: calves and abs

Day3:
A1) squats
A2) db pullovers

B1) high pulls
B2) behind neck presses

Aux : Circuit: dips /pull-ups/ db rear/side laterals

NOTES: the set rep will be as follows : 12/10/8/8/6
except for the aux lifts which will be all high reps.  the A1, A2 means they're supersetted

diet:
