Where you position your thumbs when you are doing the thumbless curls?
I cant decide whether they should be under the bar or over the bar but not actual gripping so it looks like im giving everyone a Fonzie style two thumbs up when curling.

LMAO! I tried both but I find it more comfortable with them under the bar! Personal preference I guess, I can't imagine it would make all that much difference to the benefits of the exercise!

Strong benching and deadlifting mate, what do you think your 1RM dead is now?

Cheers pal. Not sure about my 1rm, I got 150 around 2 months ago (I think), but my grip failed on the first few attempts and also I didn't warm up to it properly, I had just done 3 max effort working sets before it. So I imagine if I warm up to it properly and wear straps, I could pull 160 at least. Might give it a go in the next week or two.

        Nice session mate.

As for RDL vs SLDL, whats the difference as they look the same to me.

Cheers. I asked the same question about RDL vs. SLDL last week in the training forum! It seems the only difference is that with SLDL you keep your legs perfectly straight, whereas with RDL your knees are slightly bent, but you still keep them stiff throughout the lift, if you get me.

Thinking about replacing back squats with front squats from now on, for a few reasons:

-I appear to have shockingly poor shoulder flexibility (my elbows and wrists aren't great either). I find that even when using the widest grip on the bar possible (as in, my hands right up against the plates on each end) back squats still really really hurt my shoulders, particularly my left. And given the problems I have with my shoulders anyway, it would be sensible to avoid the exercise for a while.

-I don't have a spotter, so doing fronties allows to me to train to absolute failure, and if I fail on a rep I can just let it roll gently off my chest onto the rack. Obviously you can't do this with back squats.

-For some reason I enjoy doing front squats a lot more, they're simply more enjoyable!

Does anyone think it would be a bad idea to drop back squats for the time being?

No training today, but just went down to my local hotel spa and got a massage, it was absolutely unreal. Apparently I had loads of knots in my traps and shoulders, and lats too.

I was chuffed as well cos when the girl started the massage she said "I'm guessing you do a lot of weights?"

I'm thinking of making this a regular thing, they're expensive but I feel so much better, and even my dodgy shoulder feels infinitely better and more flexible than it did earlier today. Plus I really fancy the girl who gave me the massage! LOL

Good stuff man! Why had you not been training legs?

I haven't done a max DL in a while, theoretically your 5rm is roughly 80% of your 1rm so in theory I could prob get around 160kg. But I got 150 a few months ago, raw without a proper warm up. I'd say I'd be good for at least a 160kg now.

As for squats, I have no idea, my squats are just lol compared to my other lifts!

I've had exams and revision, so ive had to put that first really. I was doing just 2 days as I could barely fit it in. I thought i'd take it easy on 90, found it really easy, but I actually cant walk now !!!! I'll learn from that. I'm wondering what I could actually lift on them. Yeah my squats are w*nk, I keep hurting my knee doing them (old ligament damage) so have never dared go over 60 KG.

I've never tried thumbless DB curls! Only ever done it with a BB, 25kg last time.

Aw right i see cool, i think dbell may be better so you as you can get a better squeeze as with a bb you cant twist as much at the top of the movement.
