Calf Exercises 24 January 2012 13:48 (permalink)
I have a standing calf machine in my gym, but not seated. What's a good alternative to seated calf raises?

Not a lot of easy answers to that one.

I've seen people sit on a bench under the smith bar and calf raise on the smith. It might work.
Don't know about the mechanics of it but it's probably worth a try to see how it feels.

Or better still, 2 smaller (but nice) ladies, one for each leg.

^ a bit of trivia jumps to mind here.

I understand the term Dumbell to date back to the reign of the Stuarts. Keen on exercise they advocated bell ringing as good exercises, but bells being noisy they stared using bells with no clappers - dumb bells.

                So there you go ...

Just trying work out the reaction of the gym staff when they see a sign on the gym notice board "large lady needed for seated calf raises, apply within" hmmm food for thought :-)

the use of lovely ladies as your chosen piece of resistance could be termed 'dumb belles' although maybe taken somewhat offensively dont you think !? lol
