Can I be sacked?

Ok, to cut a long story short, I'm a chef working at a pub, run by <Generic pub chain>. No body really likes there job and about 6 weeks back we had a team meeting for the chefs to clear the air and discuss why certain people don't get on etc. Basically, our kitchen manager <Slater> makes all the chefs including me feel like we're **** at our job. At the meeting there were the kitchen team, which is 6 chefs including myself and the 2 pub managers <Wilde> and <Morrissey>. 2 chefs didn't have much input as it was more focused around me (Shae) <Mickey> and <Ronnie>. Anyway, I recorded part of the meeting on my iphone without the managers knowing, incase they threatened to sack us or anything down that route. Ok.. 
 
I'm into producing music and I samples various bits of the meeting and used them in a track I made.
 
Today the track got leaked to <Wilde>, wife of <Morrissey> (whos voice I used) She's hit the roof and gone to head office. <Morrissey> seemed ok with it, joking with me "you could of used more vocals" - "do I get a cut of the profit?" 
 
A few friends have said she's showed her manager and let head office know. She's gonna go down the disciplinary route.. My question is basically, where do I stand? Can they sack me? The track is now deleted off my soundcloud so they can't listen to it again unless they've ripped it. It's clear <Wilde> wants me sacked as we had a big argument at the meeting n ever since then she's not liked me cos I stood up for the team. 
 
What do you think will happen? If they try and sack me, have I got any grounds to stand on? Is recording the metting in private a crime?

You removed it so there's no evidence, the police would just laugh tbh.

As for getting sacked, they can let you go if you've been there less than 12 months and there's not much you can do anyway.

Funny story though! I'd get looking for a new job, the hare and hounds in bessecar must need someone new, its been crap last few times before xmas!!

Don't know why you've put everyones first names mate, the name of the employer or how long you've worked there.
If and ok it is a big "IF" someone,, anyone connected to this or some BBer at head office stumbles on this then you have done yourself no favours. Very easy to pick the pub and the staff from this if the person reading works for your group

There is a lot of these threads going about.

Shae - just deny it, i doubt they ripped it from soundcloud and even if they have, as they're about to sack you, play the song and moonwalk out of there!

what words did you actually sample? why are they angry, because you recorded them without their consent or because the song makes them look stupid?

Can you be sacked? Yeah, quite easily as you've not been there long.
Should you be sacked? Not really as there wasn't any intent with the song.

Am I the only person who wants to hear this song?

Shae, im very familier with sampling and the laws surrounding it, its very much illegal to record somones voice and publically broadcast it without their consent.
 
Did ya ever wonder WHY in a lot of customer services lines they automatically from the start tell you you may be recorded for training purposes?, the truth is every call like that is recorded, and legally, they have to let you know they are recording you.

No, sorry, you are quite wrong, they legally have to tell you, even lots of newspapers ( when the Sun recorded Gorden Brown apologising to the mother who son second name he spelt wrong), when he was recorded in the telephone conversation, they had to remove it, after a legal threat came down on them, plenty of others where say about how it was obtained though illegal means. They never persued it of course ( wanting it just to all go away), but they could have easily.
And a good reason who the whole story backfired on the Sun so specularly.
Same reason Police place a nice obvious microphone in room when interviewing people, legally telling them at the start what can be used on tape etc. If they where allowed too they would hide all of that stuff and try and catch them out then have it on tape, but they cant.

You don't need consent to record covertly in England and Wales.
You do need to have notified the other party to make the recording public, however, unless it's deemed to be in the public interest.
