Yeah I'm def a mixed or carb type, feel like I've got no energy if cut em out especially before working out. A lot of health experts on the web list "safe" carbs you know brown this and sweet potato that and bread is evil, take it this is bollox in your opinion ?? but I guess fructose should be avoided in high amounts do to the negative effects it can have on the liver (much like alcohol) I find trying to work out what to take to work to eat before I start and after which is before I work out carb wise is difficult as its got to be cold, cold potato isn't that nice. I don't want to eat bread everyday. Pulses seem to make a change and really filling but a little unusual and not what I would normally have at home . Cold pasta not too bad but not great.

Everything has it's place, i do try to avoid alcohol when possible. But I'll have a few casual drinks with friends now and then. Fructose, in terms of weight loss I think it becomes less important. Yes it's preferentially stored as liver glycogen, but while in a calorie deficit it would be hard to take soo much fructose that it would stimulate lipogensis and be stored as fat. Plus since there would be less muscle glycogen then Glucogen is released from the pancreas it will target glycogen stored in the liver and that will be converted to blood glucose. I'm not saying eat all your carbs from high fructose corn syrup, but don't be afraid of fructose either. When you have a chance look at this, it compared high fructose corn syrup to natural sources of fructose. Again, Lyle McDonald's a great guy lol. http://www.bodyrecomposit...t-research-review.html

This has been a very useful discussion. Am I right in thinking that the macros are not what you need to focus on for weight loss but more focus should be placed on the amount of calories being taken in i.e. for weight loss 500 calories less then your BMR. I understand that this doesn't mean that you can eat absolute junk and as long as your in a calorie defect expect to loose weight.
