Can't get correct form for squats & deadlift
01 March 2010 01:21
( permalink)
Hi, I used to workout quite a bit a year or two ago, but kinda stopped 6 months ago. Decided to start it up again, and actually start doing squats/deadlift properly. Whenever i do either though (especially with squats), even with low weights, my lower back hurts afterwards. With squats, i really can't work out how to do it with a perfectly straight back. Are there any decent books (or youtube vids? ive found a few but most just teach basic form) about squats?

Maybe its a flexibility/mobility issue.

Best tip I ever got was to push my ass out, have no problems with arching the back now.

Agreed with YoungDest81. "Best tip I ever got was to push my ass out, have no problems with arching the back now." Had nearly the exact same advise when I used to do them when I started off and it sorted out my form and technique. Still doing Deadlifts weekly but I'm going to have to get back into squats next month.
