Cardio for weight loss whats the best?
10 March 2010 22:05
( permalink)
Ive done quite a bit of lifting and i thoroughly enjoy it put on a reasonable size etc and good strength. I need to lose some weight. But I am absolutely diabolical at cardio, or at least effective for weight loss - my hr, bp, are all in good shape. Currently I am 23stone. So any tips on what sort of cardio i can do to best cut down my size. Most appreciated.
Best lifts, Deadlift, 220kg, Bench, 165kg, Squat, 200kg,

Early morning cardio for 45 mins followed by a low-carb & calorie deficit nutrition plan will shed fat. Keep off the wheat as well. Get a heart-rate monitor and do AM cardio until you have burnt 500 cals - do that 7 days a week and you'll have lost a pound of fat. Cut out another 500 cals from your meals 7 days a week and thats another pound of fat. Do that for a year and you'll have lost nearly 7 1/2 stone :-)
Nothing is worth more than this day...

Why should you keep off the wheat mate? My diet contains a fair amount of granary bread, 4 thick slices a day (hovis granary loaf), is this bad?

I imagine you're carrying a fair bit of lard - I'd avoid high impact cardio like running and go for X trainer, swimming or cycling. 20 stone bashing down on your knees wont do them any favours. As suggested 45-60 minutes a day at moderate intensity will help your cal deficit. You need to go at moderate intensity, you can go the heart rate monitor method or just trying holding a conversation whilst conducting cardio. If you can talk with no problem you're not doing it hard enough If you cant catch your breath and struggle to talk your doing it too hard. Rinse and repeat for a month, adjust your diet to create a 500 cal defecit and see where your weight is after that. good luck
