Cheapo Sat Nav - by Thursday 08 March 2010 18:57 (permalink)
...as the title says, I need a cheap sat nav by Thursday. If that excludes online retailers then so be it.

Don't want to be late or not get there at all to my job interviews.

All advice appreciated, village-idiot posts welcome.

thankyouuuuuuuu

I had a cheap tom tom 1 xl. Had ot for 2 years and it was excellent most* times. It was about 120 quid i think. Halfords was as cheap as anywhere at the time.

Tried a Garmin at the weekend and it wasnt as good imo.

*new road systems need uploading to the unit and it was beyond me.

Screwfix have a Garmin for £59 and offer Next day deliver if that helps ?

(order now , here Weds ? )   -  doesn't leave a lot of margin for error though !

Interviews day is Friday, but I want the kit by Thursday to be safe.

Dr Z, do you rate that one for the money?

Could you not drive there the day before as a test run, with a map and stuff?

I've done that before, mate. It's a good shout, but I still manage to mess it up.

I'll need a cheapy sat nav for my  hols so may as well get it now. Especially as this could be a turning point in my career/life. Don't want to be let down by my navigation skills

Have you got an Iphone? theres several on the App store. Tomtom is about £70? you'll need a phone holder though. Could be killing two birds with one stone -

if not, chances are if your phones fairly new you can download one for it

That's cheap fitpcs, I was looking at the satnav apps for my iPhone but too much variation in price. I just assumed cheap ones would be crap tom tom app is too expensive in my opinion but might be worth a look again at the co pilot app I knew it wasn't a good idea linking my gfs credit card to my iTunes account, only had the phone 4 days or so and bought loads of apps ( oops )

Cheers lads. I picked up the binatone for 50 squids and I'll get the tom tom software on there when I pick up an SD card.

Cheers again. Help is always appreciated.
