Nope. I loved it as a kid and still watch it when it's on. I don't like remakes of films I consider classics. I don't mind remakes of films I've never seen, like from the 1940s or something.

I don't mind remakes of films I've never seen, like from the 1940s or something. People who saw those classic films of the '40s don't like to see them remade and the kids of today will moan when they remake Transformers in 2030! Such is the circle of life.

Legendary pictures have been releasing good stuff lately, so it'll probably be good.

I think it looks great, plus it has a solid cast which is always a bonus. The tacked-on post-production 3D is going to be garbage though.. I'll be watching it in 2D.

This is one of my favourite films and was what made me venture into film in the first place - the poster of the original film sits pride of place above my computer right now. I also have two of the new ones to frame at some point. I don't mind remakes, I like to look at them as a 'new' film - as opposed to a remake. My take on this strategy is that if the production had the budget/technology available to them back in the day, would they have made this movie, if not why not, why is the original better (or not), thus it is new. The trouble with a lot of them though is you are partial to the film because of the actor, they made the picture their own- which is what makes them stand out in their own right. Agree about the 3D though, I was in shock when I heard they decided to turn it in to 3D!! It is only the success of Avatar which is making the decision....
