Much better frame of mind today............... Bench 5 x 60kg 4 x 70kg 2 x 3 - 80kg 5 x 3 - 90kg Squat 5 x 90kg 5 x 105kg 2 x 5 - 125kg 5 x 4 - 135kg Bench 6 x 65kg 2 x 6 - 75kg 6 x 4 - 80kg DB Flyes 5 x 10 - 17.5kg Good Mornings 5 x 5 - 75kg Finished work at 8am this morning and was in the gym at 10am. Felt good throughout. I think the volume is going to start tapering off from next week. Hopefully my finger will have repaired itself by Wednesday for the next Deadlift session.

Squat 3 x 90kg 2 x 3 - 105kg 2 x 3 - 125kg 4 x 2 - 140kg Bench 3 x 60kg 3 x 70kg 2 x 3 - 80kg 5 x 3 - 95kg DB Flyes 5 x 10 - 17.5kg Squat 3 x 110kg 3 x 120kg 4 x 3 - 135kg Decent session. Was squatting with a guy who has won many competitions around the world and has been invited to compete at the Arnold event in America. He worked up to a single of 310kg today and it looked extremely comfortable. I shall be joining him to train after my comp in the hope that he can drag me up to his level Just wish I could remember his name though.

Much better deadlift session today.................. Deadlift 3 x 100kg 2 x 2 - 120kg 2 x 2 - 130kg 3 x 1 - 140kg Bench 3 x 60kg 3 x 70kg 2 x 3 90kg 3 x 2 - 100kg DB Flyes 5 x 10 - 17.5kg Deadlift 3 x 100kg 3 x 120kg 2 x 3 - 140kg 5 x 3 - 160kg So the first lot of Deadlift should have been halting at the knee but I just wanted to go full range. Bench was fine. Second lot of Deadlifts at the 160kg I was just trying to get over the bar, grab it and pull without spending to long adjusting over it. The hardest set was the second and that was the one I spent most time over. I just gotta get in there and pull. My hands were in nowhere near as much pain as they were last week so I don't know what that was about. Had a little scare at work yesterday when I managed to crush my hand inbetween a car and cutting tool. Thankfully though it's only painful on the knuckle side and not the palm side. Could have been end of competition right there if I hadn't had ripped it out in time.

Weighed in this morning at 82.7kg. Good stuff. One less thing for me to worry about now. May lose just another 2-3lbs to make sure I don't have to cut it too close on the day.

The last week will be two training days going no more than 70% with low volume. Competition lifts only then 3 days rest. After todays training I've got a dull ache in my left shoulder and elbow and I can't help but think that after 12 weeks of Sheiko maybe the volume is starting to beat me up? Regardless though I shall crack on and see how it works out. Maybe use a different system for next time. Bench 3 x 60kg 3 x 70kg 2 x 3 - 80kg 5 x 3 - 90kg Squat 3 x 90kg 2 x 3 - 105kg 2 x 3 - 125kg 6 x 3 - 140kg Bench 4 x 60kg 4 x 70kg 4 x 4 - 80kg DB Flyes 5 x 10 - 17.5kg Good Mornings 5 x 5 - 75kg Reluctantly went into this one after a night shift. That said though I enjoyed the squats. I got back from the gym almost desperate to eat something, severely hungry. Huge omlette and beans later I'm feeling better.

The first gym session that took less than an hour in nearly 3 months or more................................. Squat 3 x 90kg 3 x 105kg 2 x 3 - 125kg 5 x 2 - 140kg Bench 3 x 60kg 3 x 70kg 2 x 3 - 80kg 3 x 1 - 100kg DB Flyes 5 x 10 - 20kg I must admit it was nice being in and out in such a short time. The sessions coming up to comp day are all like this now so hopefully it's recovery city ready for the big day.

I was a little naughty during this session but the pyschological benefit was well worth it................ Squat 3 x 90kg 2 x 3 - 105kg 2 x 2 - 125kg 2 x 135kg 1 x 155kg (this is my planned opener) 2 x 2 135kg Bench 3 x 60kg 3 x 70kg 2 x 3 - 80kg 4 x 2 - 90kg Mega short session, took about 35 minutes. I think I've mentioned previously how the Sheiko method of high volume over low weight has played with my mind a little with regard to lifting the heavy singles. I've even been worrying about my planned opener for the squat even though it is an easy weight. I havn't lifted heavier than 140kg for a long time now and it was just playing on my mind. Today should have been 3 x 2 - 135kg but I decided to just throw in a single with the opener. Really glad I did because I absolutley pissed that weight. I think it even felt easier than the 135kg and I had to check the bar again afterwards just to make sure i'd got it right. It's done wonders for my confidence going into the last week and I'm really looking forward to the comp again now. Hopefully i'll be setting a PB on the day

Final session before the showdown.................... Squat 3 x 90kg 2 x 3 - 105kg 3 x 2 - 125kg Bench 3 x 60kg 2 x 3 - 70kg 3 x 2 - 80kg Very short and sweet and so light it hardly seemed worth it. That's what Mr Sheiko said to do though so I went and did it. Weighted in this morning at 81.6kg so I'm well within my weight class. All set to go now after 3 complete days of rest.

This is my first comp and I'm simply hoping to get anything above 460kg. I'm fairly confident I should get that easy so anything else will be a bonus. Long term goal is to make the British qualifying total within 2 years so I'll need to find an extra 52.5kg.

Enjoy your comp!

Looks like I popped in just in time to see how close your where to the meet. Good luck. Be sensible and smash the pbs.... remember though every lift with 2 white liights will be a real pb! Although doing a training session under an hr is cheating. With warming up and time taken to get to a working weight I am lucky to get under the 2hr mark... much to my partners annoyance :) I am assuming your over 23? I ask as pretty sure 460 is qualifying total for 83kg U23?

It just feels wrong getting in and out of the gym in under an hour. No doubt I'll be missing these short sessions when I get back on it again. Unfortunately I am indeed over 23. I looked on google and everything but I just couldn't find the dietry adjustments to drop 8 years as well as 8lbs
