Cutting with complex carbs ????? 02 March 2010 21:50 (permalink)
Hi guys. could anyone answer this one for me. Well i'm wanting to keep progressing and getting bigger whilst dropping cardio into my regime to hopefully burn the rest of the fat to get my abs through. But recently I've hit a barrier and cannot loose the rest of the fat but my diet is strict. My protein intake is high but does my carbs need to match this in order for me to continue to put size on. I personally think I have a silly thing in my brain that carbs equal fat?? And I dont really know much about nutrition but the main thing is could you guys be completelty honest as I need to sort this as like everyone you want to gain size but loose excess fat for summer.. thankyou

Although it's possible to gain muscle and lose bodyfat at the same time, when you stall, it's time to decide which goal is the more important.

What's your bodyfat % at the moment? Nearer 10%? Nearer 20%?

Some caliper points are difficult to do yourself. It's better for a trained person at a gym to do skinfold tests.

Regardless, you should easily be able to tell which you are closer to:

          10% = visible abs
          20% = tubby

What's more important is how you see yourself in the mirror. If you think you are carrying an unacceptable level of fat, then focus on cutting. If you are comfortable with your body fat level and you just want to focus on getting bigger, then do so.
