Right, gonna give this a run. I'll try and keep track of everything I can (each day's eating, how I'm feeling, etc etc). Goals are fat loss and strength. Aswell I want to learn how to sumo deadlift, as I think I'll be better at this then conventional with time.

Starting Stats:
Weight - 286
Waist - 41.75
Chest - 49.5
Arms - 17.5
Quads - 32.5

Squat - 600
Bench - 345 in Rage X, 370 in Fury
Deadlift - 490

Right, let's get started then shall we!

Week------1----------2------------3-----------4--------5
Waist-----41.75---------41----------40.75-------41------40.5
Chest-----49.5---------49------------49----------49------48.5
Arms------17.5
Forearms--14.25
Quads----32.5----------32.5----------32---------32------31.75
Calves----19.25
Weight----286----------275-----------276-------276------275

    Feb 18/08
    9:30 - 4 whole eggs, 4 slices bacon, 1/2 cup cheese
    12:30 - 2 italian sausages, carrots
    3:30 - 1lb ground beef, 1/4 cup cheese, carrots
    6:30 - 1lb ground beef, 1/4 cup cheese, spinach
    9:00 - 6 breakfast sausages, 2 scoops whey

-feels kind of weird eating bacon and sausage as part of a fatloss diet
-I don't feel any of the effects I've read about people get in the 1st week, but I guess I wouldn't on the first day
-no training/cardio today; busses weren't running, and I'm still sore as hell from my meet
    -any comments on today?

Hey mate, good luck with everything. I'll be following you're progress as I'm quite a fan of the principles of the anabolic diet. I'm sure it'll work for you mate. I've not researched it too closely, but are carrots fine in the induction period?

        Impressive lifts BTW

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support.

are carrots fine in the induction period?

I haven't finished the book yet (someone actually sent it to me, after I posted that last night; I was just going off a few online sources), but I'm pretty sure you just need to stay ~30g's of carbs, so as long as the carrots don't push you over the mark...

              Tyrob:
Do a search on t-nation, I don't have the link handy, but there's a couple articles and a HUGE thread which outline it. Here's another source:

              Feb 19/08
              8:00 - 7 breakfast sausages
              11:00 - ****load of celery, 4tbs peanutbutter
              1:00 - 1lb ground beef, 3/4 cup cheddar
              4:30 - 3 italian sausages, spinach
              6:30 - 2 scoops whey
              9:00 - 1lb ground beef, 3/4 cup cheddar
              10:30 - 2 scoops whey, spinach

Cals were just under 4k. Fat ~280, carbs 40ish, and protein a tad over 300

              -energy is feeling ok
-yesterday I was stuffed full by my 6:30 meal; felt the same today
-toilet bowl can't be too happy with what's been going down today; need more fibre lol
-any experts? How'd this day look?

It's similar to Atkins during the week, but on the weekend, I'll be eating a rediculous amount of carbs

Ah right, is there any particular numbers carbs wise to work to?
Ive done Atkins before and i think the max daily carb intake was 20gramms.
For dropping weight it worked really well and although i cant comment on strength (i didnt train for strength at all when on it) my energy wasnt affected, if anything i felt maybe a little better... It was weird havin fry ups on a fat loss diet!
A mate of mine who did it at the same time got the sh1ts from it after only a few days and had to stop so be weary. (Atkins only though)

Hi dude, sorry I haven't been around, I'm really busy right now. But I said I'd help so I will.

I think this is a great diet for you to follow right now as it is structured - do you have the Anabolic Diet or the Anabolic Solution ebook? The latter is an updated version and in all a better read than the first. PM me your email address and I'll send them on. :)

You must be anal about your carbs at first. 30g isn't a magic number, BUT it forces you to build your diet around low carb foods and makes you strict about them - so keep it to 30 or less. In truth you'd probably do fine on 40 or possibly even 50 depending on how much fat you had in the diet, but don't mess around at first. For the first month as adaption is taking place, be very strict. Plus, if you're gonna follow a diet, follow it to the letter for a while before making changes.

Your food choices are fine, but you must also include olive and fish oil in some form or another, to balance out the animal fats. Add olive oil to your salads/veggies or add it to protein powder, or just knock it back neat (or mixed in water).

For the first month, also don't worry about losing weight. Just keep the calories high (you won't get fat as long as your carbs are low - so be strict about them! 30g to start with) and your body will do the rest.

Re: the toilet, weird things will happen to you over the next week or so as you adapt to the higher fat intake, it's fine. Aim for 20-25g of fibre a day and it will normalise soon; best choices are spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts (mix with bacon bits..), and flaxseeds; also from the nuts/berries you might eat.

Be anal and count stuff for the first while, afterwards it gets easier. Again, I think this is a great diet choice for you to follow, since it has structured guidelines, and for someone transitioning onto a lower carb diet, it helps to have some rules to follow at first. After the first couple of months you can play with it, but be strict at first.

If you need help, let me know.. I started on this diet and did awesomely. I'd recommend that anyone gave it a shot.

No way dude. For fat loss, one carb day and keep it 90% clean. Two full carb days are for people trying to gain and who are somewhat tolerant of carbs.

Go with one full carb day for now and depending on the fat loss, adjust as needed. For an optimum rate of fat burning you may want to go with half a day even, and add carbs as you lean out.

                                        LOL

Hey, you wanna lose fat dude.. when you get leaner, you can eat more carbs! Get lean first, then you can have weekends of pizza and ice cream.

You CAN do 2day carb loads now.. but I think fat loss will be slowed that way. If not halted completely - in my opinion anyway.
