My last girlfriend was 8 years older than me, she 30 and me 22. Didn't get stick off my mates, but got a lot of hassle from my parents, well actually just my mum.

My mum HATED her. Nothing to do with her personality, she just hated the fact that she was older and had been married before, and I guess she just assumed that she had an ulterior motive with me and planned on marrying me and taking half my money. (The fact that I have no money and will still be in college for the next 3-4 years, and the fact that she already was married to a very well off guy who gave her all the money she could want, AND the fact that she didn't take any money whatsoever off her husband in the separation agreement even though she was entitled to half... well none of this seemed to make any difference to my mum.)

The only thing I would say is: you say you don't see a future with this and neither does she. But, that was the same when I started with my ex. She started it as just a fun post-divorce fling, I started it as a fun affair with an older married woman. Neither of us expected us to fall in love with each other, but we did, and the fact that we are at such different stages in our lives (she wants kids soon, I don't want to get married any time in the next 10 years, by which time she'll be FOURTY) meant that it made it very, very hard to end it. Be careful!

Thanks for the advice Kane. Like I said, I want to keep it casual. If that is going to be an issue , I will handle it when it arises.

If you are not bothered about this relationship then why not be honest with her, because everyone seems to be saying it is not a problem - I don't actually see a problem with the age gap but I do see a problem that she has a child and as you have said she is very careful.  Maybe she thinks you are actually worth more than just a casual shag, why mess with her emotions and also when there is more than just the two of you to think about.

exactly what I've been thinking, as it would appear you are showing your true age by not stopping to think about what you have actually said, and by that I mean the fact that you say due to her having a kid she is careful about who she dates, and she is dating you but all it seems you want to do is have a laddish bit of fun with an "older woman"

very selfish if thats the case, as peagreen said, why mess with her emotions when there is a third person, (thats her kid just so you know) to consider

As others have said just take this as a bit of fun-everbody should have at some time or another dated an older woman-its like being able to have a taste of the future without actually leaving the present.

One thing i would say an older women MAY be more settled and wish to settle down, and also if older may have kids so be careful with kids involved, not fair on anyone if it goes t1ts up
