My girl is a vegetarian and is planning on following your diet, what are some suitable replacements for the meat in your diet? DP: Whey isolate and eggs. Tofu etc contain carbs in far too high amounts for the Dave Palumbo version of the diet. Adjust it won't work as well. So no, isolate and eggs i'm afraid!

Ouch! Thanks for the reply, but I think that's a tad too restrictive for me.

THE_MANN Increase water intake maye gee39? One thing which may be worth putting out there is that when i did my Keto (not neccessarily the DP diet) i had loads of sides like headaches, lethargy etc i put this down to the carbs in my PB even though it was only about 3g's worth. It may be worth while experimenting to see if removing these would help, it certainly helped me :) This could be and probably is due to a lack of water or electrolytes.

HicSuntDracones I'm curious if any vegetarians have tried to do this? Obviously you need to substitute in some other protein source for the chicken and salmon. How low carb do the protein sources need to be? For example Quorn pieces and Tofu are staples for me: Quorn (per 100g) 16.3g Protein 4.5g Carbs (1.1g sugars) 2.6g Fat 107 kcals Tofu (per 100g) 16.6g Protein 2.5g Carbs (1.0g sugars) 18.3g Fat 241 kcals Would those be suitable? seitan is your friend as is cheese.

I've not long discovered Halloumi cheese, bit high on sodium but the cheese that you can grill is freakin tasty dude!!

Papa Lazarou Salt is your friend on this diet mind you - getting a good amount in is not a problem. For sure man, I've been salting my grub with himalyan crystal salt since I got on the high fat lifestyle back in Oct 08. I was referring to taste, the salt is a bit overpowering in the cheese, found the same with feta as well!

Sporty - I'd replace the low fat peanut butter , I'm pretty sure they replace the fat with sugar. You need the fats anyway on this type of diet.

There is the problem. They remove the fat and increase the sugar by 3-4x the normal amount. The difference is mostly made up of sugar (glucose syrup). It had three times the sugar of the standard version 18g per 100g instead of 6g in standard version.

Hi papa, I am looking to start this diet and was hoping you would be kind enough to help me out by giving me any advice 195lb male (dave palumbo style) 5.10am wake 5.45am Meal #1: 5 whole eggs. 8.30am Meal #2: 50g whey protein with 1. tablespoon natural peanut butter 11.15am Meal #3: 150g chicken breast and 15g almonds. 1.15pm workout 2.00pm Meal #4: 50g whey protein with 1. tablespoon natural peanut butter . 5.00pm Meal #5: 150g salmon topped with cracked pepper with 100g broccolli. 8.00pm Meal #6: same as meal #1 or #2 9.00pm bed I drink about 3 litres of water Here are the brands I am using whey protien is body fortress from Holland and Barret sometimes also use ON GOLD standard isolate (whichever is cheapest when I need it) Meridean no added sugar or salt peanut butter from H&B I take a triple max strengh 1200mg omega 3.6.9 capsule which cntains fish, flaxseed &starflower oils with meals #1, #3, #5 if I have the eggs I take a combind omega 3 & multi vit capsule and also a glucosamine & chondroitin tablet in the morning at 8.30am my current stats I am 5'11 28yr 182lbs (not sure but think body fat is about 25-28% i can see abs when tense under artificial lights(I have strong core and abs though) but am not happy with the body fat%) my days consist of work mon-thurs 6am-1pm, fri 6am-4pm . weekends off so I wake later so will just adjust times for when I wake 45 MIN weight workout 3-4 times per week consist of low rep sets on no more than two muscle groups at a time (usually give a full week recovery to muscle groups as I have heard this better for natural lifters) cardio used to be road running 3times a week but have got runners knee so just bought a cross trainer looking to lose body fat while maintaining and gaining muscle mass. now for the questions (1) Are the portions/diet ok for my weight do I need to increase/decrease anything (2) You may notice I have swapped meals #2 & #3 its just easier this way cause i get a break between 11.00 for half hour (will this cause problems) (3) With meal #5 can I alternate between salmon (oven) and lean steak fried in 1 tbspn of evoo, also can I alternate the veg between broccolli, spinach, and green beans (4) With meal #6 if I go for the eggs and I fry an ommelete in 1 tbspn of evoo do i still need to take the omega 3 capsule (5) Am I right in thinking that carb reload comes on about day 14 of the diet(or is it 14 days after ketosis is acheived so in fact around day19 of the diet) Cheers Jace

You want to use a brand much lower in carbs or even better isolate (STC for example is 83% protein, 9% carbs - much better) 1 - Looks fine for a start. I'd drop the pepper tho - carbs. 2 - No problems - eat them in any order - protein and fats you may have noticed are designed to be high throughout the day. 3 - Yes you can - not sure of carbs in green beans - make sure they are as near as damn it carb free. 4 - If you are using evoo to coat the pan then a cap would still be worth taking. 5 - Day 14 of the diet and then 28, then every week (eg day 35, 42, 49, 56 etc). HTH.

papa thanks for the reply (damnn just bought H&B yesterday)I just done some calculations and here are the differences between STC and H&B protein Per 30g H&B Protein 21.15 Carbs 2.36 of Sugars 1.3 STC Protein 25 Carbs 2.7 of Sugars 1 although the STC is better I will have to stick with the H&B untill I have finished it then I will get some of the STC. should I still see results what should be the limit on carb intake

I'm going to give this a shot I'v never been really lean, I'd love to know just how much muscle I have built under the fat. Papa-Thanks for starting this thread. I'v been training naturally for about 2 years, Iv made some decent gains in that time for a natty and I don't want to undo all the hard work Iv put in by screwing up the cut and losing it all. Papa, I'd appreciate it if you could answer a few questions I have, please mate. 1.In your opinion, can this diet be done succesfully naturally or would I be wasting my time (and muscle)? I'm thinking about using a small dose of Anavar just to reduce the chance of catabolism 2.I can't really follow dave palumbo's diet to the letter because of work, I only have time to quickly neck a protein shake in the morning and evening, how does this look to you? 92kg natural male, about 16% BF (no thats not me in my avatar LOL) 7:30AM 4 eggs, 1 tablespoon peanut butter 10:30am 50g whey isolate in water (this is all I have time for) 1:00pm 4 eggs 4:30pm 50g whey isolate in water, 15g almonds (this is all I have time for) 6pm Train- weights followed by 45 mins low intensity steady cardio 7:30pm 50g whey isolate in water 9:30pm 250g salmon/chicken or can of tuna (with extra light mayonaise) and 250g of brocolli 11pm bed Obviously not ideal, but could it work? if it stinks, please just be brutally honest
