Days Off 15 November 2009 18:03 (permalink)
At the moment I have been doing my weight traing mid mornining and then 45 mins sscv of cardio of an evening. Do this 4 days a week M,W,T,S and have tues and fri off with football on sun.

My question is should I keep these rest days or can I do 2 days of cardio on the rest days instead of the evening?

Thanks guys

What's your aim? If you're aiming to shed some BF or maintain/improve fitness levels then some additional SS, low intensity cardio should be fine.

I'd include them as optional sessions, so do them if you're feeling ok but if you need a bit of a rest, rest.

Yeah mate just want to shed a bit of body fat, would 5 x 45 mins sscv stationary bike sessions hinder my lean bulk too much or lead to over training?

If the intensity is kept relatively low (<65%MHR) then you should be fine.

As per LCM you can do some low intensity cv on a rest day if your goal is to loose bf. Bulking then I'd personally rather have one full rest day. But then I also work a full week and have stress outside the gym (plus over an hour of walking a day as part of my commute)

As above cardio used as active recovery will probably be more beneficial that nothing at all but this means very low intensity - it would just mean a longish walk and a stretch.

Have a look at the 'recovering smarter' section at the end of the above article:
