fzrbandit Ello people, Daz got me doing his '20 reps and squeeze for 3 seconds' today. He has persuaded me to try it for a month, so I will and see how it goes. Might I add he still got me to do it half hour after finishing chest, no rest for wicked in our gym im afraid! FZRBANDIT (Si) thats ok si just want you to get the best gains you can this my way of doing things and it works really well but it is very hard way of training but stick with it pal

I took a friend to train at Daz Ball's Extreme Gym today - we had a great workout. The gym has a great positive atmosphere; no doubt this is a result of Darren's own positive aura.

Interesting sessions. I've recently come to appreciate the benefits of the higher intesity (rest wise) but still follow the 'regular' reps/sets protocol. If I can get the ego in check I'll give this a go sometime..... not too sure I'd have the bottle to hit legs with that sort of volume AND intensity tho LOL - do you (try to) use the same weight for all sets incidently or do you pyramid the weights down taking each set to ~max effort? James, how did you find this style of training?

James, how did you find this style of training? I have used this type of training on and off for two years i did it in 2007 and won the brits still put the weights up each set if i can. 1 tip is to get your ego in check cus lifting big dont mean you are going to get big if you come down and try one of my sessions i would have you so pumped up and in the most pain you have been in by using little weights and lots of holding the contraction at the top of the movment. As for reps i aim for 15 to 12 reps but if i dont make it and fail i dont worry just rest another 30 to 1min then back in all the best with this and let is no how it goes

Cheers for the reply Daz... so you try and increase the weight for each of your 4 worksets? Does this mean you work between the top end to the bottom end of your rep ranges as you increase weight or are your earlier sets more like a warm up and it's the final set (or 2) where you take it to the hilt (so to speak). Do you catch my drift? I just assume if your aim is to increase the weight each set then the first set or 2 are workable but 'comfortably' within yourself. I've never really worked consistantly with the rep ranges you subsrcibe to. I use 3 work sets with the same weight and while the first 2 are doable they are tough but if I upped the weight for each set, to be in my range by set 3, sets 1 and 2 would be far more comfortable hence my quizzing. (it's not wasted time, I will genuinely give this a legitimate try once I have got my head round benching less than the part-timers LOL)
