I do feel I am missing the white gloves and a glow stick sometimes LOL.

Just wish I didn't have to push from such a low set position cos I really struggle to carry the drive thru such a long ROM. But yeah, all good today. Not sure it'll come before summer as I'll taper back for a few weeks, but summer should hopefully see 110+ going up

Well you seem to do ok anyway mate. 105kg double now, i'd say a single 110kg is there now, you'll be doubling that in no time, you have a strong lockout - my big weakness i'm trying to address.

Ox: My lockout isn't too bad if I can get it to my forehead, my problem is how far I have to go to get it that far. 110 right now would be a big ask TBH
Flanders: I get more pain in my shoulder doing lat raises than any OH work. You may be right on the CGBP

I am fail!!!!

Deadlifts: 10x70, 5x120, 3x160, 2x190, 1x210, 1x235, 9x205 w/2mins rest
Hammer Row: 125x11, 115x10, 105x11 w/90secs rest
Cable Rows V: 87.5x13, 80x13, 75x13 w/90secs rest
Chins: BWx13, 9, 9 w/90secs rest
Kneel Shrugs: 50s x20, 10, 9 w/10 breaths rest

No happy with the failed double.... especially the way the 1st went up. Lost something on the 2nd. Made up for it a bit with the 205x9 but still not happy. The rest of the session then just about held ground, the odd improvement but rare and random.

Shame about the missed double mate, easily done when repping deads i reckon though, lose your line slightly and you can miss easy. No doub't you'll nail that very soon though!

Nice one DV... re-written what i'm trying to say here about ten times!!.. but i'll try again... your form masks the effort if you know what I mean, you make the lift look easy and looking at your first rep a fail on the second wouldn't of been predicted... kinda think i've said what I want to

Understand the disappointment but subjectively it's still an outrageous session of pulling, technique on the 235 was lovely. Well done.

It's interesting looking at your deadlifting though, you seem to be much stronger at the top of the lift and your 'sticking point' is much closer to the floor, so that the real graft appears to be getting the bar to the knee and then once you get it past the knee (or thereabouts) the bar flies up. I find this interesting because it's the exact opposite to me! Have you ever considered doing deficit pulls or the like to strengthen that part of the lift? Not to say that the bottom of your pull is weak by any stretch, but it appears to be weaker than the top.

Loving the sympathy LOL.

Flanders: the 1st was definately harder than it looked, but a) it shouldn't have been and b) I still should have got 2!
Brock: just about sums it up TBH
CK: Yeah, my weakness is off the floor, no doubt, always has been. When I did speed work it really helped and I had been focussing more on that drive recently but of late it's been letting me down again. Once at knee it's not even questionable and I guess that why I can rep so well as the lockout strength is easy and at 205 pulling from the floor isn't an issue. Just don't have time ATM to focus on addressing the tech as the hypertrophy side is going well (shall try and do pics soon)

Re:Dirty get back to basics - 13 February 2012 18:39
Early morning start today and TBH, feeling no better than I have of late regarding expectations....

FS: 8x60, 5x80, 3x100, 2x120, 5x137.5, 8+1x117.5, 9+1x110 w/2mins rest
Ext:+20x16, +10x12, stack x11 w/90secs rest
RDL: 6x170, 8x210 w/2mins rest
Curls: +17.5x15, +12.5x12, +7.5x13 w/90secs rest
Calves: 200x 20, 10, 10 w/10 breaths between each
Raises: 80x 13, 9, 9 w/ 10 breaths between each

Really struggled to find the impotus today, but on the plus side, I wasn't feeling the usual physical aches of an early session. After pissing 5x135 I really thought 137.5 was going to be a cop but it was tough, something went awry on the 2nd rep (not in an injured sense) and heaven knows how I got 3 more after that. Deloads were tough, upped the 1st set too. Exts saw a bit of a drop, I also think I focussed more on the squeeze tho. RDL were tough, when I have my head in it more I may look at form as see if a drop is required. Hams curls were OK and calves were thankfully strong.

Agreed, back looking bigger to me! FS mental as always! Do you feel the RDLs nicely in the hams, the more weight i use on SLDL the less i feel it, its odd !

Re:Dirty get back to basics - 14 February 2012 14:04
Cheers guys.... not weighed myself this week but was 16'8 last week so around a 9-10lb gain in 7 weeks (obviously with a bit of water in there also). Think there may be another lb or 2 on last week tho TBH. Size over shoulders and arms has attracted a fair bit of attention down the gym.

As for heavy RDLs.... you are right, the heavier loads do lose something of the feel, but when I get on to ham curls I soon know whether they have been fatigued or not. It's like heavy DLs, you know you have done your back, but you don't feel it like you do a drop set

Re:Dirty get back to basics - 14 February 2012 14:12
Another early start, and I also cycled in unlike the past 2 chest sessions. Let's see if last weeks high could be maintained:

Bench: 10x60, 5x80, 3x100, 2x120, 5x135, 10x117.5, 9x110 w/2mins rest
Inc DB: 50s x12, 45s x11, 40s x11 w/90secs rest
X overs: 50x16, 12, 11 w/90secs rest
Pec Minor Dips: +50x15, 12 w/90secs rest
BB Curls: 50x9, 40x10, 30x11 w/90secs rest
DB Curls: 20s x8, 17.5s x9, 15s x11 w/90secs rest

Well there you go, not bad at all. Flat bench was tough but up and good. Deload weight went up. More pleasing was holding the 12 reps on the 50s inclining, solid sets thru-out there. Xovers felt nice. Re-introduced BB curls today, 1st set a little sore on the old forearm strain but fine after that, BB and Db work kept very strict today so pleased with the weights and reps

Re:Dirty get back to basics - 16 February 2012 14:19
It almost felt odd training today and not suffering the rigours of 2 nights bball, to the point where I thought I might not achieve much...

PP: 8x40, 5x60, 3x70, 2x85, 5x97.5 w/2mins rest
OHP: 3x75, 5x85, 10x72.5, 8x67.5 w/2mins rest
Side Lat: 15s x19, 14, 13 w/90secs rest
CGBP: 3x115, 5x127.5, 10x112.5, 9x105 w/2mins rest
Dips: +60x11, +50x12, +40x12 w/90secs rest
Kneeling PDs: 50x18, 45x16, 40x15 w/90secs rest

'Ave it! Last rep was a bit wayward but the PP 5 rep was solid, and the OHP was almost easy (altho didn't feel like a 6th was there). Finally got the 10 on my first deload set, hit reality on the 2nd set tho. Side delts seemed good too. CG flew at first, deloads started to see some a.m. fatigue creeping in. Thankfully this held off for dips, quite strong there. PDs were tough tho and I was ready to leave after them. All in all, pretty good today

Catching up with ya journal fella, great pressing, especially inclines! Nice to see your final deload set is my main work set

Good clean reps there too, even looks really smooth getting the dumbells into position and getting off at the end! Gonna try that myself as i expend a lot of energy pushing them into place for my first rep lol !

Re:Dirty get back to basics - 17 February 2012 14:13
Another tough back day...

Deadlifts: 10x70, 5x120, 3x160, 2x200, 5x222.5, 9x205 w/2mins rest
Hammer Row: 125x12, 115x11, 105x11 w/90secs rest
Cable Rows V: 90x10, 82.5x11, 75x13 w/90secs rest
Chins: BWx14, 10, 9 w/90secs rest
Kneel Shrugs: 50s x22, 11, 9 w/10 breaths rest

I feel pretty beat up now, legs ached just walking the dog but on paper today wasn't bad, however, I really had to dig hard for everything today. Fine once in a while but every back session has been like this for 3 weeks now. The 5 was decent albeit tough, the 9 was painful. Hammer rows were up but the issue was forced somewhat and maybe not the tidiest reps. V bar was nice, small increase there also and chins weren't so bad either. Shrugs felt strong.

How come your feeling so beat up then mate? do you schedule any down time, back off weeks or anything into your training? I know your on a cycle at the moment so i guess thats not an option?

I do try and schedule in light weeks, usually assess at the 8 wk mark (which is next week) and if good carry on til 12 and back off then. As I'm feeling it already I think I will make next week a light one, just annoying that the last 2-3 weeks have felt like this for back and legs. Better to act now than risk injury, last time I fought thru it I tore my bicep
