That doesn't sound nice.... I am thankful that so far I don't seem to have anything more than consistant niggles, touch wood, but it's just one thing after another getting in the way ATM

The usual BS chest session today. This time my excuses are: I was up at 5.30 this morning AND I changed my grip (narrower) to see how that goes for a bit. CHEST Bench Press: 5x60, 80, 2x100, 1x120, 2x130!?! then 9x100, 2x5x80(short rests) w/120 or so secs rest..... TOSS, I dropped 2.5 and still didn't get the 3 I needed. Did a good blast set afterwards then 2 sets of 5 just being explosive. Crap tho, despite a good pump Incline Press, DBs: 45sx 8, 8, 7 w/90 or so secs rest..... dropped the earlier reps down a tad in hope that I would get all 8s, how the fcuk I didn't is beyond me. Maybe the change in flat bench had pre-exhausted me more than usual. Cross overs: 35 for 7 sets of 10 w/10 secs (minimal) rest.....gone back to cable work, just cos in my head I was benching better when I was doing this . Dropped the weight a tad, shortened the rest and pumped the hell out of it. BICEPS Oly Bar Curls: 40x 11, 10, 10 w/90 or so secs rest..... At least this was alright, up a rep butthe last set took a second or 2 to get the last 2 reps DB Hammer: 12s for 3+4 sets of 10+9 reps w/30 secs rest..... think I did 3 for 10 before going back to 9s, good sets to round the day off tho. usual roller and stretch to finish Also another 20 mins cardio No comment on the chest session, I will suss it all out eventually tho. Great Bi work, howeer, my arms seem to have really come on recently, altho maybe it's cos I'm shedding a little too. Good cardio session at the end. Back of left knee aches a lot and I wonder how connected that is to my dodgey hammy. Will ice it and may look at dropping posterior volume to see if that helps ease it all off. Might also have to change cardio options just to be safe. Pulled adductor still obviously letting me know but nothing like as sore as I anticipated so hopefully this will be a short term thing.

Your son does well eating spaghetti! My little brothers 10 and survives on sausages, pizza and chips. Appetite and eating is an absolute nightmare and it really gets my mum down, he'll just have a plain bread bun for lunch most days! When I'm down I try and bribe him to drink more milk. Hopefully it's something he'll grow out of. District 9 is a great film I thought. Made a nice change not to hear exaggerated American accents in a film, although I did find it went off on one towards the end.

Yeah, I liked it, and didn't mind the end, it needed a bit of action. As you say, the Africa setting to bring in the modern day gang culture into it would not have worked setting it in the US. Just not the sort of film you'd watch again and again tho. Good take on it all tho. My boy ate chilli con carne last night too - but the reason I was awake at 5.30 this morning was him moaning that he had a sore bum PMSL

2010 is the year of sh1t bench although I am clinging to the hope that anyone who seeds the hard yards through the winter will reap the reward in spring. It is a straw but I am clutching it.

My bench has been sh!t long before this year ever even thought about starting . I just don't get it tho, I don't do anything different in theory to how I train the rest of my body - maybe I just haven't accepted how crap the rest of my training is too then LOL

It's looking annoyingly as tho my good overhead work the other week was a bit of a one off now DELTS BB Push Press: 5x40, 50, 2x60, 2x80 1x90 F1Fx95 w/120 or so secs rest..... Really not happy with this at all. The 1 I got in the middle was a fcuking struggle, the others were nowhere near TBH, did a 90 imediately afterwards and that sucked also. Dunno why but it felt heavy today. Strict OHP: 65x 8, 7, 6 w/90 or so secs rest..... thankfully I made a few extra reps here to redeem myself somewhat and decided against the extra volume this week. Side Lat Raise: 10s for 3+4 sets of 11+10 reps w/30 secs rest..... after saying I was going to stick with holding this at the same level, I actually did an extra 11 rep set and finished stronger than last week too. TRIS Floor Press: 3x100, 112.4 for 4, 4, 4 then 9x90 w/90 secs rest..... a slightly beter showing here today, Still no 5s but the 4s were solid. The blast set I paused at the bottom of each rep Dips: BW + 40kg for 8, 8, 10 w/90 secs rest.... thought fcuk it and went heavier. Figured 8s should be OK after last weeks 10s on a lighter weight but by the last it was clearly easier than expected so I pushed out a couple more. Machine extensions: stack for 12, 12, 10, 7, 5, 5, 4 w/10 secs rest..... deciding whether I lessen the load thru the sets to sustain double figures!?!?! usual roller and stretch to close. 20mins cardio (10 XT, 10 treadclimber) Well the session started off properly sh!te, just nothing in me for it today but the warmup felt good enough. After that it was OK tho I guess, everything else went up in some form. I think I'm going to give up on my bloomin step-son. We try and help him out by limiting junk, then in his bin he has 3 packs of cashew nuts, 1 pack of wine gums, 1 pack of Werthers original, lucozade bottles, Frijj milk shake bottles... that's on top of breakfast, lunch, dinner and his post-college sandwiches too!!! Fcuk it, I'm just not bothering anymore - but I sure as hell won't help contribute to it. There'll be no treats period, no pizza night, no weekend desserts.

Nice work - dips with 40kg is some feat! Shame about your stepson, only so much you can do i'd imagine, but ultimately it's down to him to make the lifestyle change.

Cheers, dips are one exercise I've always enjoyed.... uness I've gone REALLY heavy then my joints have a word or 2 to say about it. The trouble with my stepson is that he's not had hard life really yet always plays the victim and thinks the world owes him a favour. He listens to what you say in that steriotypical Harry Enfield Teenager way - in one ear and out the other, as far as he's concerned you are on his case not trying to help so he essentially sticks 2 fingers up and does what he wants or thinks regardless. Once he pays the ultimate price for his actions it will be too late and he should have heeded the warnings everyone has tried to give him, be it lifestyle, attitude, work ethic etc

Bit gutting about the PP mate, but as DV points out, those dips are pretty damn impressive. Not sure I could manage 8 with 20kg tbh! So your triceps are definately stronger than mine, your chest and dare I say front delts are stronger than mine, which makes me your overhead issues are purely technical? Add that to the list of videos you need to take As for your stepson, does he have any plans to go to Uni? At that age your personality can change from month to month. I'm a totally different person to what I was 2years ago, and 2years before that, and that etc. Though most of these changes are probably due to the social life you lead at the time. I know that probably doesn't help considering he's somewhat of a hermit, but you may be suprised when one day something'll trigger a change in him and prompt a rethink of attitude, at 17 it doesn't take much! I'm guessing your at work now, enjoy your shift.

BW +40 dips eeeek my elbows and shoulders cringe at such antics. To be fair your s-s's cache didn't sound that bad to an outsider. Two packets of sweets and some drinks? It's not that bad for a teenager surely? Although I guess the timeframe over which the above gets demolished might be significant.

Good reps with the 40kg. Funnily enough the very odd, once every couple of years, occurance of me doing dips, they feel better on the shoulders with a bit of weight on. Could just be a 'warming up' effect though?

Right you lucky fcukers..... I'VE GOT VIDS TODAY!!! Dunno how long it will take me to embed them tho LOL. Oh and if anyone know if I can turn off the 'comments' option cos I can't be doing with the twattish remarks that will now ensue. BACK Deadlift: 5x70, 5x110, 2x150, 1x180, 1x190 3x202.5 then 5x150 & 5x120 explosive w/2mins or so rest..... Solid reps here today I felt, should have done more deloading perhaps. Only problem was the smelliest fcuker I have ever had this mispleasure of training near. I actually upped and moved mid-way LPD: 95x 9, 8, 8 and chins x10 w/90 or so secs rest..... these went easily today, even with the extra rep at the start Seated Hammer Row: 95x 11, 10, 10 w/90 secs rest..... matched last week, no gains but good reps, as you will get to see Pullover (Tri bar): 65-55 for 7 sets of 12 reps w/10 secs rest..... did 4 sets on 65 before dropping today. Knelt down too for better ROM. Usual roller and stretch to close Just 10 mins cardio Ended the week well. DL was up and confortably-ish. The rest of the session felt strong too. Leg and adductor felt suprisingly good for it. Right, now bear with me while I embed

Good stuff. Nice on the deads. Plenty in the tank there! Dam those plates with straight edges on!! Who the eff ever thought they were a good idea... someone that never done a proper days weight trining in their life that's who! As for your gym... do you often get chatted up by older men as the dj plays 'It's Raining Men'? ;) (Good song it is though)

Cheers fellazzzzz. You may recall my old training vids, my last place was much like your iain but without any nice bars. Great hardcore atmosphere but the place was a death trap most of the time. The Hex plates are a pisser but they won't get round one's in, apparently due to health and saftey cos the bar can the roll into people - morons!!! LOL tho, I don't think I've been hit on yet, be it male or female. Any attention I'd be grateful for, mind.

Duely noted, I would normally squat in more but this last couple of weeks I've just toyed with not such a deep start to see how it felt on the dodgey leg. Didn't think I shortened it as much as I had now seeing the vid TBH...... could also do with some editting tips too BTW

LOL at Nose roids... yeah, they're smelling salt (ammonia) McKenzies. I'm kinda hooked on them and can lug on them like there's nothing there, just part of the routine now. They gym does have some daft 'ambiant' lighting, all with green and blue hews to them. Some of the corners tho get quite dark. Right, on to today. You may recall last weeks leg session fell thru due to a dodgey adductor.... well this week was basically the same. LEGS Front Squats: 5x60, 80 2x100 x 3 and then bailed w/120 or secs rest..... well at least I could do the 100kg this week, but it wasn't comfy and by teh 3rd go at them it was telling me to stop. Tried a Box squat with 60 but again, time to draw a line under that. Leg Extension: 95 for 5+24 sets of 11+10 reps w/30 secs rest.... just blasted out some slightlyhigher reps here as consolataion Ham Curl: 65 for 12, 12, 12, 9 w/90 secs rest..... cut teh volume back to ease my genera l leg pains off a bit (hopefully). Good sets mind, nice form, added a slight extension at teh hip too to really squeeze the hams hard SLDL: 120x 12, 12, 12, 12 w/90 secs or so rest..... again, a bit 50/50 SLDL/RDL. Just rattled out a few higher rep lighter load sets today. All good tho. Calves Press: 65 (stack) for 7 sets of 20-18 reps w/30 secs rest..... hard work here, 5 sets on 20 2 on 18 IIRC Usual roller and stretch to close 20mins cardio (10 XT, 10 TC) Well the adductor was a little better than last week but obviously still an issue, a tad annoying but after last week I was ready for it this week. I shall avoid venting too much about my step-son today, however, I have had enough of him TBH and am bordering on actually not liking him very much now. He would be out if I had it my way, his BS is pushing me to breaking and if I let lose it won't be nice, his MUm is finding him increasingly difficult too. This would be understandable if he was 13, not nearly 18!

Your SLDL/RDL work sounds pretty similar to mine - a bit of both but as long as i'm gaining some strength and stability in my hips i couldn't care which one it is! Shame to hear your adductors still being an arseache - have you thought about having a proper deload on the squats and deads for a week to see how it improves vs training through it? (as much as it permits obviously)

It's just this one side and it isn't bothered in anything else I do, even playing bball and all the lateral movements and change of directions involved doesn't phase it. However, I think the hammy would benefit hence why today when it all went pear shaped I kept the volume and weights backa bit on my hammy work.
