I tried endlessly to be part of the clique at school/college, not I try endlessly to avoid being in any clique! Never ceases to amaze me how shallow people are though!

In my limited time on this planet it appear to me: In school: Geeks and private school kids are bullied and laughed at. The loud and popular ones "rule" the school. After school: Geeks and private school kids rule the world. The popular kids flip burgers and graft hard for low pay.

Dr Z Its funny , most of these cliques from my childhood can still be found on a Saturday night in the same old pubs , or in the gutter on the way home. Still clinging to their cool little gangs ...... Whereas the individuals , the ones that didn't (or perhaps didn't want to !!) fit into their ecosystem tend to be the ones that have stuff to show for their lives. Actually you have a point. The cliquey cool kids tend to still live in the same area and I sometimes see them when I go back. The ones who didn't quite fit in, all tended to move away, see the world a bit. Some moved back (I moved close to where I was from), and while they may not all be super rich, they do seem to have richer lives.

Yeah I don't want to get stuck in the rut of living in the same area for ages and hanging with school friends still. Next year I should be moving away and starting something fresh....my group of friends are getting worse and worse for just getting stuck in a life routine....even going grotty local pubs all the time with mainly old people and just sitting in there rather than going up to a city or something. I've got another mate that feels the same....so may make the move with him...depends where he goes for uni.

we didn't have any "it" crowds at my school, the people who were more popular were usually the people that were funny or outspoken tbh for me anyway my circle of friends are all creative e.g graphic designs and marketing type people although i'm nice to everyone i meet for me its about quality not quantity

AWG Incredible Bulk In my school there was a direct link between popularity and IQ the people who thought they were 'it' were dumb as fck and in the bottom sets for most subjects. So you were one of the popular kids then IB I was an inbetweener...

I tried too hard to be in the popular groups instead of just getting on with work, and I am seriously paying for it now...

Hard to say what group I was in...I drifted between them...I could do that because I was the best at sports and also top 3 in maths as well in my year. Would hang with whatever group depending on my mood....sometimes I'd play bandminton/football/do weights at lunch time....others I'd go down the village and just hang with the supposed 'cool' ones....other times I'd play chess and poker with the more geeky ones. Mainly do the sporty stuff, everyone got on pretty well in our year...the supposed cool ones was never the hard ones anyway...it's the pikey's that are the hard ones.

My school as like a proper American High school set-up jocks, geeks, goths, criminals and air-head girls who hung out with the football team. Like the The Breakfast club. In my work the cooler guys are the guys who say "fu.ckin..." at the start of a sentence. And also the staff who take the piss out of/talk down to the young staff and slag other quieter staff off, after they've walked past.

My school had 240 per year and was more like an American school with so many different types of groups. It was down to the individual which group they thought was cool/most popular I guess. Trendy's, Rude boys/girls, Asians, Turks, Quiet group, Overly clever group, Chavy group, group with a huge variety of different types. Loads

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain... ...and an athlete... ...and a basket case... ...a princess... ...and a criminal... Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.
