I'm stronger than I look - always had pretty decent base strength, and it responds quickly to training. I've never really looked particularly big though Can remember benching with one of the "big guys" years ago, he ran out of puff far before I did, even though I must have been giving away a good 6 stone, and god knows what on chest measurement

I know this has been done to death, but what are considered good lifts? I think I have seen: Bench = BW Squat = BW x 1.5 Deadlift = BW x 2 Or maybe the last 2 are the wrong way round. Are these considered good lifts, or average? Either way, I have a way to go to acheive any of them...

Good lifts would be 1.5x bodyweight bench, 2.5x full depth squat and 3x deadlift imo

As T said "x bw" is generally a poor way to compare lifts. Better just to see the persons weight compared to his lifts and make your own mind up. I voted for 'other'. In general terms I am no doubt stronger than I look. In strength athlete terms then no.

86kg...you skinny bastard Pete!!! I look like I can lift more then I actually can IMO...my bench press and deadlift are both poor...best lift is squat but I haven't done that in over a year so yeah I'm pretty rubbish at this lifting lark

Id say i look like i can lift more. But one thing ive got my head roud over the years is strength does not always mean bigger and better shape. Currently lifting bout 130k bench, 200 dead, 110 front squat all for reps at 14 stone 7 pounds. At my strongest and heaviest i was 17 plus stone, 220 deads, 150 bench, 130 front squat all for 3 sets of 6. BUT!!!! im in far far better shape than i ever was then. Im bigger and far leaner. So for me the amount of weight i can lift is not important. This is something i wish id of learned a long long time ago.

Irish Beast T0NY What do you bench and how much do you weigh? At the moment my BF levels are very very high. I am about 21 stone and can bench about 130, maybe a shade more. In fairness now I just look like a fat bloke with large arms and shoulders! in that case you arevery weak for how you look

I'd say 115kg deadlift is very below average fro a guy weighing over 14 stone

I'm about as strong as I look, I guess I'm more of a pusher than a puller though

Don't you mean catcher not pitcher Drab? [;) 115kg deadlift - it's important to remember to compared trained with untrained. Most adult men would struggle to deadlift 115kg so i doubt the average is higher than that
Awesome pic, but Tony you're not doing yourself many favours posting up tips on preventing the gag reflex and then a picture of a guy touching his toes - Ak

Papa Lazarou I'm 16 stone and 10-14lbs (varies day to day), off cycle. I can bench 140kg for 10, 180kg at last attempt for 1. I however look like a more athletic type of guy rather than BBer! i would disagree with that having seen your pics you defo look like a body builder i probably look stronger than i am at 13 stone 10 at the min but my chest for example is developed pretty good and i can only bench about 115 x 2.
