Water hits your system faster; so 1st thing in the morning and PWO I have it in water. Any other time, with milk

With water as a PWO (for ease of use more than anything else) and when I have a mid-afternoon shake pre training it is with milk from the canteen. Much nicer with milk.
Pain is just weakness leaving the body

Water unless its unflavored whey, then it has to be milk to get it down!

Mostly milk, but I use water in my smoothies were I use whey, and if I am taking protein/carb powder after training and I don't want to carry anu milk with me. I never take protein in it's own anyway. Pint of full fat, protein powder makes a nice snack :)

im afraid i cannot find the study to back up what i am saying but i have read a couple of articles statine that only roughly 30% of whey is actually utilised by the body due to its short half life in the intestine. the amino acids from whey are broken down and enter the blood stream too quickly for your body to utilise them fully. the only time that they are utilised efficiently is immediately after trianing or first thing in a morning. the study showed that milk, casein or colostrum actually prolonged the half life of the amino acids in the small intestine and therefore released them more slowly and more of it was utilised. i would therefore say that mixing your whey with milk at any time other than first thing in a morning and immediately after training is a good idea as it will allow for a slower uptake of the amino acids and less of it is wasted. methoxy isoflavone or some types of natural test boosters can also help as they increase protein synthesis so if you like your shakes with water and are worried about some of it going to waste this will help your body to deal with the fast uptake of aminos into the blood stream.

I have also read studies to this effect, I'll see if I can try to track them down, but this was a couple of years back!
