Re:Do you take the stairs?

Always take the stairs if possible! Even if its 6 flights! People who use the lift for one floor annoy me. Too lazy to walk up one flight of stairs. No wonder theres so many fatties out there! At work the other day I saw a person going out for a run and they used the lift for one floor, instead of the stairs. Rediculous!

i like poached eggs Too risky........At one of my clients offices you actually have to take a "stair safety" course, I kid you not. At the top and bottom of every staircase there is a big sign with the do's and don'ts of stair climbing, I only wish I was taking the p1ss. Lol!! Sounds like when I used to work for Scottish Power. Handrails must be held at all times. You always had to go up/down on your left hand side. Hot drinks were forbidden to be carried on the stairs. Single file only. And if you deviated from any of these rules, the H&S monitor with the clipboard would report you. But worse are the comments about it on the company intranet: I am sick with people not holding the handrails at work, people going up the stairs 2 by 2 (especially when a mass of people are trying to go down them at peak times such as 1pm) and going up and down the wrong sides. I wonder what it will take for people who act unsafely to listen to the advice given to them and to change their behaviour. Do people really believe it "won't happen to me"? It only takes an instant and you could be dead, injured or you could kill or injure someone else. (BTW, I use the stairs all the time (2 floors) cos it's the only bit of cardio I do)

I walk up 8 big flights of stairs with a those large office water bottles in each hand. A bit like an uphill farmers walk. I do it every night shift, fantastic for conditioning, grip and legs. Other than that cant be asked and use escalators and lifts when possible!

I'm a little bit shocked that there are so many rules for going up and down stairs in some of the companies you work for - I've never heard of this before.

Yes unless I have my little daughter with me, she can manage a flight or 2 but no more. Always use the stairs even when for example in M&S you have an esculator next to it, which sometimes gets a stare.
