I can't get over how expensive they are (all smart phones really). I'd not have an iphone, but would consider an ipod touch, if I could justify it. Either way, a very slick piece of kit. Which where I have a problem. I can't. If I need internet, I have a pc and laptop. I don't see that the iphone offers anything over my existing tech. I pay £15 a month for my phone with silly amounts of free mins and texts. An extra £25-£30 a month to get a mediocre speed internet access seems excessive when I pay £9 a month for my broadband. If I was going to go smart phone, I'd look down the HTC line. I think the next incarnation of the Nexus Google Phone should be very good, even the existing one is, once the bugs are ironed out. The whole open source approach to the device makes it a consumer driven piece of kit which should have a more organic evolution. I've had a blackberry, which was very slick and felt like a phone for grown ups. My criticism of it was that effecting changes in settings was not enitely user friendly. I'd hazzard a guess that for more than 90% of users, smartphones are luxury rather than a necessity. I see the app store as a giant Lakelands catalogue, full of "That's a good idea" type stuff you don't actually need. So if you can justify the £45 a month on a luxury, fair play, they are good pieces of kit, grab it with both hands . I can't help but think the iphone represents a very expensive way to access internet data, slowly.

I can't help but think the iphone represents a very expensive way to access internet data, slowly. I pay £15 a month for 900 mins, free texts, unlimited internet and 120 international minutes. I bought a second hand iPhone for business purposes mainly as i need email on the go and the keypad is the best on any smartphone when it comes to speed and usability. Mine runs TomTom navigation as well on quite a large screen, which is a bonus. I agree though the cost of the phone is outrageous and i am left scratching my head sometimes at how they can justify such a cost, Blue_Lagoon3000 Right any Iphone experts i need help, all my itunes were on an old broken laptop and when i got my most recent i phone i downloaded the tunes... Now on my new laptop i just set up an Itunes account.... Now i have only bought one album, but when i try to synk it it says "are you sure you want to synk music, all existing tunes on iphone will be replaced with songs from your itunes library" How do i upload new music from a new account without wiping my phone guys? http://www.ipodrepublic...ter-solution/2009/01/12/

I don't use the extra Apps to be honest apart from maybe London Tube. I use it for calls, texts, email and very rarely the internet when I'm away from home and I need to find something out. But I like that it's a real version of the internet and not some mobile smartphone version. My only true "wow" moment was when I used it with free wi-fi access on a beach in Thailand for internet and with the TruPhone App (like Skype) to make free calls home. Amazing. I don't really use it's extras but I like it because all my calanders, contacts, emails, bookmarks etc are all "synced" between the 3 machines perfectly and in real time. If I make a change on one machine, the others update automatically. At home I have a desktop as a main machine and a laptop for surfing on the sofa or in bed. I don't take the laptop out much so the iPhone is my mobile email which now I couldn't live without and it all seems to come in a neater, slicker package than the competition.

Life is full of stuff we don't actually need. Do we really need £50K cars? Do we really need massive widescreen TV's? Do we really even need to go to the gym to build overly big muscles? Not really. Do we enjoy having and using these things? Yes. App Store is no different. Yes, it's full of some complete crap, but then it also has apps like Budget trackers and Gym Buddy to help me when I'm down the gym building the muscles that I don't really need along with all the smart games that are available.

Nothing winds me up more , when talking about smartphones , than the "A phone is just a phone , as long as it makes calls ...." thing ! WTF ?? .... that could be applied to absolutely ALL aspects of life ! A car is a car , a house is a house , a lampshade is a lampshade , and so on....

I had a play with one for first time yesterday and was very impressed with the speed things go on it like moving between apps etc. I had one of the first two models of the orange SPV's when they first came out and was sort of the strat of smart ish phone. Its quite unreal how smooth it all moves and solid the handset feels. Its a clever bit of kit for how small it is

I've never been an Apple fan boy, so try my best not to buy anything apple. But I was stuck for choices, and at the time the iphone was the best product on the market so I brought it, and now I love it! The only annoying thing is the Motorola Milestone was the phone I wanted and it got released like a month later so was a bit gutted about that. This will probably be one of the last iphones that are the best on the market, they will soon get overtaken as everyone else is catching (but not yet!), so its last chance to get one whilst it's still top dog.

If it won't let you select all use this. It's free and you can copy them all at once. Then when your iphone tunes are on the mac you can just re sync them back to the iPhone along with the 1 album. http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/ When the songs show up in Senuti just "select all" (cmd key and A key) and then click "Transfer". Should do the trick

does anyone regret gettin an iphone? well, i didnt get the iphone, i didnt want to be a sheep and follow the masses (and its fooking massive) and instead i got the HTC touch diamond 2 which i do regret its an awesome piece of kit, but totally aimed at business useage and im not a business person, and like the gimecky apps of iphone there is wm marketplace to get apps for the windows run htc touch, but they re a bit crap, and really expensive i regret NOT getting an iphone
