Does crime pay?
30 January 2012 17:36
( permalink)
Today I got back from the gym to find someone had stolen 2 bicycles from my garage. I haven't been into my garage for three days so it could have happened anytime since then. The garage was locked and they were even kind enough to lock it again when they left???? I'm under no illusion that the police have much more important things to do other than look for my bikes so I don't expect i'll see them ever again. This means the theif got away with a brand new mountain bike worth £600 that had only been ridden twice and a classic BMX which had more sentimental value than anything else. So, we're all out busting our asses day in day out to earn an honest wage but there's probably thousands of people out there on the rob in one form or another making money and getting away with it. Sometimes I wonder if we're the suckers?

My cousin is a cop and he said "if i knew how easy it was to make a lot from crime I would never have worked" I think it all comes down to being a decent person and your morals and standards.

I think it does in the short term but it catches up with most people one way or another

John Palmer British bad boy John Palmer suckered over 16,000 people in a phony time-share scheme. Currently ranked Great Britain's wealthiest criminal, having amassed ill-gotten wealth of over £300 million, the notorious Mr. Palmer owns a fleet of cars and several houses all over England, including a huge estate at Landsdown in Bath. He even has a cool nickname: Goldfinger. Which doesn't mean he has a golden rep. Palmer defended himself in the fraud trial, lost, got eight years in the clink, and has so far been slapped with fines of £5 million. But this wasn't his first criminal activity. In 1983 he took part in the U.K.'s greatest-ever robbery, in which he and a partner stole £26 million in gold bullion from a cargo storage company at Heathrow Airport. He smelted the gold himself and was arrested when police found two gold bars, still warm, under his sofa. He seems to have done alright. Probably worth the 8 years in jail.

Does crime pay, lol. Crime is one of teh best money makers there is. I kno wlots people who have never worked a day in their lives yet buy new cars every few months, takes all sorts of holidays a year and owns alot of property. Now here are a cple idots i also know who are never out of jail but these are just silly cnuts who dont think ahead but if you have a good brain and some balls then you can live a good life. Who the fcuk wants to get up early every morning and go make others money all while you become a miserable person when you can do what you want with your life, yes i know alot of us do work for others but if you had teh choice, you wouldnt so alot turn to crime and it pays well.

Define crime anyway, they are just bullsh1t laws made by shirt and tie criminals.

when I were a kid men were laughed at if they didn't have a job, nowa days there are people who laugh at us and think we are idiots for going to work each morning (as some cop from "Coppers" put it.) and its true...

I agree Bert, I would also rather work and earn a small wage than be a thief - a few little words come to mind like self respect, pride and dignity.

I've been the victim of thieves and burglars and yes it does get to you - that people can just walk up, smash a window or fiddle a lock and take stuff just like that. If you let it bother you it'll get you down, all you can do is keep up your own standards. What comes around usually does, even a minor criminal record can affect things such as home insurance, getting a job in the future etc etc. That's if they don't rob the wrong person, and get a good kicking.

Many have moral values and/or are concerned about breaking the law so will not knowingly commit a crime, although many very rich people and not so rich get that way via "criminal" activity so yes the odds are stacked in your favor I guess.

odog im worried now i dot have my rotty he used to sleep with my motorbikes, now there just there to be taken.. i hate thieves You know the thing that really pisses me off is I'd rather they'd have taken my motorbike. At least that's insured. When money is tight home insurance doesn't really make the list of priorities. The other thing that pisses me off is I've lived here for just over two years now without incident. I'm moving into a new place in less than 2 weeks and was going to get contents insurance because I was gonna keep the bikes in the shed. Sometimes I feel like life just hates me.

Buy a cheap alarm with motion sensor for your garage and chain frames with a thick/toughen chain make it as hard for them as possible and once the alarm goes off they will probably run or if they don't you can clump them and say they threatened you with a screwdriver.

You seem like a good person, dont let these scum cnts get you down. Yeah I know mate. There's nothing I can do about it so I shouldn't let it bother me. I went down to the local skate park earlier to see if someone was stupid enough to turn up on one of the bikes. Knowing my luck I'd have beat the theiving scum to a pulp and then got done myself. I suppose if I were to look on the positive side I don't have to bother paying the monthly cost of contents insurance anymore
