Dogs terrified - 05 November 2009 17:54 ( #1 )
Looks like it will be a long night, dogs not happy. I have all the televisions on, volume turned up and he can still hear the fire works. Anyone else expecting problems tonight? Pitiful to see him, anyone got any helpful tips.

Shame you can't purchase some kind of a sedative from vets to knock em out tonight.
You did gain far too much fat though,I mean, you're not muscular at all, you're just a fat mess.

Subject them to as much noise and strange events when they are just 3 months old. As a result of this I've never had a dog scared of fireworks. I realise it's a bit late for the OP though lol

Shame you can't buy some sort of doggy ear defenders.  Must be very frightening for them.

Also if they act alarmed don't go over and stroke them or comfort them in any way. This indicates to the dog that something is wrong and will make them more scared. Just ignore it and so will the dog usually imo

My Rabbit was doing ok out in the garden but i've brought him indoors and have him sat on the couch with me now while i catch up on some Sky+ (got HD coming Monday so watching all the recorded stuff).

Might just spend the night in front of the tv, light a fire, and spoil him a bit giving him bits of food

doesnt bother my dog in the slightest, she just stands and watches them

if the dog is scared mate, ignore it totally.  and the noise. If you try comfort the dog or reassure it, what your actually doing is rewarding it being scared and telling it that its the correct reaction.
