Don's Strength und Conditioning Shapeup 08 January 2012 16:33 (permalink)
Entering mainly for the motivation it gives me to keep on track!
This SUC will be more about performance goals rather than making a visual impact, however I would like to add some muscle (strength) without adding too much blubber.

Just turned 53 but refusing to grow old gracefully , have a 6 month target for a Strongman comp and I don't want to make a fool of myself

Will post up stats tomorrow as I'm having a Health assessment so should get reasonably accurate weight / bodyfat% etc.

Starting piccies below

Looking class already! Not far away from the six-pack, are you still chasing it or is it all strongman now?

Be nice to have it but I'm def more gearing towards shifting some decent weights now. Not gonna use the chase for weight as an excuse for getting fat again tho!

Thought I'd better post a quick update to summarise week 1

Training etc is documented in my journal so won't be reproducing that in here.
Dropped 2k this week which I'm well pleased with, diet not too bad but could be cleaner lol
Strengthwise it's apparent that there's a major difference between pushing and pulling strength that I need to address if I'm to get anywhere near my targets for doing a comp.

Keep up the hard work look in decent shape, best to not put to much blubber on as u will still need to be fit for strongman events.I,m slowly getting more in to strongman shows what weight do u need to be doing and what exercises you want to compete in.

                            Thanks for popping in mate!
Comp I'm looking at doing is -
All timed events are max reps
                            85k log - 90 secs
                            250k yoke - 20m
                            180k deadlifts - 90 secs
                            105k stone over yoke - 90 secs
Arm over arm truck pull - 20m

If I can do that at a bodyweight of around 75k I;ll be well chuffed - lot of hard work to put in first though!

Week 2 written off - not trained due to a mutha of a cold , appetite been through the roof
