Dropping carbs from breakfast? 17 March 2010 10:51 (permalink)
I'm cutting and gradually reducing carbs.  I have about 150g's a day at the minute and eat them for breakfast, pre and PWO.

I'm planning to drop them out of another meal soon and I'm thinking breakfast will be the first to go.  I train at lunchtime so carbs at 11am and 2pm around my workout.

Is this the way to go or would you drop them from the pre or PWO meal first??

It works great for me mate.  I will be switching to this shortly but I plan on cutting for 16 weeks this time, nice and slow, so I won't drop carbs until the weight loss slows down.  I couldn't stay on a keto diet for 16 weeks, but it's a great way to end a diet when things slow down.

I'm playing it by ear at the minute but I reckon I'll go to no carbs for the last 6 - 8 weeks.

The main plus points are the fact that it makes you very strict (you don't eat carbs because it ruins the diet) and the refeeds are great!!!

              refeeds?

I had no carbs Mon - Sat but had a carb refeed on Sunday.  Thats the idea with a keto diet when you're lifting weights.  In my case it was a bit of junk binge but I still lost 2lb a week so it was all good.

Im in the same boat as you britta having carbs for breakfast, pre and pwo while cutting, i think the  breakfast carbs will be the first to go.

Yeah 45 mins fast walking/slow jogging at 6am unfuelled.  This will go up by 5 mins per week til I get to a 60 minute route.

I'm reluctant to remove them from breakfast because my eggs on toast taste soooo good after a 45 min cardio session, but I think they'll have to get switched to an omlette soon enough!

I'd say drop em from breakfast, your body uses fat for energy when sleeping and continues to do so on waking so by not adding carbs at breakfast time you extend the length of the fat burning period.
                    Almost an unfair advantage
