Ephedrine & Work Drug Test

Hi,

I was thinking of doing an ECA stack.

Although very rare. Where I work does random drug testing.
If I was tested would the ephedrine show up as Amphetamine
& therefore my test be positive.

The NMR would show up as ephedrine not amphetamine due to the different molecular weights of the 2 compounds.

The detection time for eph is only 5 days anyways!!!!

About 6 months ago, the guy sitting next to me got a phone call in the morning & he had to go for a drug test that same day.

When doing an ECA stack. I believe you cycle it for 8 weeks or so. If tested do you think I would be sacked for the test showing
Ephedrine. When I 1st started the job I had to have a drugs test & had a cold & was taking Sudafed & the drug test went OK.
Does Sudafed contain ephedrine or is something different.

to be honest i know nothing about work drug tests but as over the counter chest eze contains eph. HCL then any positive test could be put down to that and therefore cant see how they can have a problem with it- unless they believe it to cause danger in a safety critical job ( train driver fireman etc) and in that case they will give you a list of controlled drugs including the over the counter variety for you to avoid or have to tell them about.

NMR is Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy, tha is what sports governing bodies use to assess if illegal drugs have been taken. As this is for work they probably wouldn't use NMR as it would be too expensive.

You wouldn't get sacked for eph as it is freely available over the counter in a herbal form and not illegal.

Sudafed contains a very similar compound called pseudo-ephedrine which works in a similar way but is less thermogenic.

There is no chance of getting sacked for taking eph HCL IMO.

Been there 2 years with another 2-3 years work available so
just being cautious.

I have dabbled with Creatine a few times in the past but I am
thinking of giving S1+ ago later this year. Anyone got an
opinion on this & drug testing at work. Or should I ask this in
a different forum?

I've no idea how drugs tests are conducted at places of work. But for what it's worth, whenever confronted with a "swab" type drugs test, whether it be traffic police or whatever, and you've been doing Eph, refuse on grounds of it being, in your opinion, unreliable, and demand a blood test. Eph WILL register as amphetamine in a swab test, but will not show up in a blood test. Even if a blood test would be used as a secondary evidence source, it's better not to have the stress of amphetamines showing up anywhere at all.

I have found a copy of the Drugs & Alcohol policy for where I work. They just do Urine tests.
They say that if a drug is illegal under the law then it is forbidden at work.

But they also mention that the abuse of some legal substances is forbidden i.e glue & solvents.

They then mention that some medicine obtained with or without prescription can affect performance
& safety at work.

I just sit at a Computer in an office doing Computer Aided Design. The ephedrine should improve my
performance ;-) & not have any effect on safety.

So if the Eph wouldn't show up up as Amphetamine then I should be fine anyhow. Unless there are different
types of testing.

Yes I did read your post. I probably worded myself slightly wrong.
You mention Eph showing up as Amphetamine in a swab test & not in a blood test.
The test at work is a urine test. If you refuse, then you get suspended & then dismissed.

So does Eph show up as Amphetamine in a urine test ?

if you do get positive results just say its from cold and flue tablets like every does

I'm not 100% sure about this, but across at the German BB site I frequent, there are several threads about this. One is from a German military guy, and they do urine tests there. According to them, the urine "quick test" will show Eph as Amphetamine. The question is, if your company thinks they've detected Amphetamine in your results, whether they will do a blood test (where it will show negative) or just use the results.

I would rather be safe than sorry and not let it get that far. Before taking the drug test, buy a packet of Chesteeze. Tell the doctor that youre taking this medicament currently. I'm not sure whether it would be wise to say you "heard it could show up as Amphetamine" or just ask him if it would have any effect on the test. Use your discretion.
