FAT PETE'S TRAINING LOG - PART TWO 14 November 2011 21:24 (permalink)
Monday, 14th November, start 17:00

A little change round to proceedings tonight. Shoulder still not right, so hack squats

Hack squat, all weigts in kilos

40 x 10
45 x 10
90 x 5
135 x 5
180 x 2
180 x 7

Leg curl, (top half only) still kilos

5  x 10
8 x 10
12 x 5
21 x 5
26 x 2
26 x 5

Leg extension (top half only) still kilos

10 x 10
15 x 5
20 x 5
25 x 5

After consultation with a man of much knowledge on Saturday. I have been advised to introduce certain assistance exercises into the mix, the idea is that you do five sets.
Set one is 25 percent of your top weight - ten reps
Set two is 50 percent of your top weight - five reps
Set three is 75 percent of your top weight - five reps
Set four is 95 - 100 percent of your top weight - two reps
Set five is 100 percent - five to seven reps

Once you hit seven reps you up the weights, the fourth set acts as a primer to prepare for the top set. I did an extra warm up set because I am old and I felt I needed it. The Hack squat was a success and will go up next time, but recently I have been doing a few of these so had a good idea where to set the top weight. This was also the case with the leg curls, butt leg extensions I haven't done since God was a lad, so this was a fact-finding evening for those

Quite enjoyed this tonight but I can't go at it full tilt until this shoulder is sorted. So that's another reason to get annoyed about the bloody thing

          HAPPY NEW JOURNAL MR PETE

I hereby do solemly (did I spell that right?) swear not to mess up, garble, show my socks, even though they are new and very fluffy with a stupidly long blob on the end which I don't want to pull in case the sock itself unravels and leaves me with just one sock to stick both feet in, which is fairly doable cos they are huuuuuge!

errrrm...as you were....I also promise not to digress from my explanations of things cos it prolly helps to clog up your journal enormously and may well cause consternation and page turning traumas when the gremlins think this is actually your last journal and not the new one cos here I am...errrm..oh lordy!! I forgot what I was saying..errrmm anyway...all of that, I think, unless....unless...I forget that I said it and just carry on doing exactly that.

          ...ok?...heee heeeee.....

Right then, time for a cuppa and then bed methinks...gunite and sleep well.......

Some rather unpleasant shoulder-related activity at the physios tonight. No tears, but there was swearing, quite a bit of it, all by me.

I know Yazz and she did indeed sing that. Plus it's true, and it is wedensday and confidence is high on that front.  Your remembering Yazz has made me curious as to your age, are you old NG ? No don't answer that. A gentlemen shouldn't ask. Your culinary abilites made me suspect that you might remember Yazz as no-one under thirty seems to be able to boil toast. In fact, the lass whose wedding I went to about a month back only found out about three years back (when she was twenty three) that you needed boiling water to make a cup of tea. Yet she can play the violin like an angel. So she isn't thick, she just seems to have massive gaps in her knowledge. Still I have gaps in mine, for example I still don't know what you got up to in the gym yesterday. Maybe I never will

                            Wednesday, 16th November, start 1700

A day for experimentation, some of there exercises I have never done before and some i haven't done for a long time, so I must experiment to find a suitable weight to use next time.

                            Tricep pushdown, very strict

                            15 x 10
                            15 x 10
                            30 x 5
                            45 x 5
                            55 x 2
                            57 x 7

Bent row, very strict, both palms forward, bar brought into the gut, these are new to me, I have rowed in the past, but never with this grip

                            20 x 10
                            30 x 10
                            40 x 10
                            50 x 10
                            60 x 10
                            70 x 10

Bit of head movement on the last set so I'll end there and mark that weight, but as the top set of this system is only five I'll maybe pencil in seventy five

Front raise, dumbbells, hammer grip, strict, also new

                            6 x 10
                            8 x 10
                            10 x 10
                            12 x 10
                            14 x 10
                            16 x 10
                            18 x 10

Rear raise, dumbbells, strict, not new but not for a long time

                            8 x 10
                            10 x 10
                            12 x 10
                            14 x 10

And that was plenty hard enough. Enjoyed this tonight and the shoulder gave no trouble. Felt pretty good afterwards too. DrRick mentioned that I looked a tad slimmer, so I weighed myself a few minutes back and I am 132.2 which about three kilos lighter than usual, so maybe a bit slimmer. Good spot DrRick.
It being Wednesday I hightailed it to the home of the tubular bandage where girl number one suggested a change of room as the usual one was too hot (possibly the first time ever a woman has complained of being too hot). The usual room is on the ground floor and the desired, cooler room is in the cellar, so I had to swan off in my grundies, trollies and shirt in one hand and shoes in the other down a secret staircase that I never saw before (maybe it wouldn't be secret if I had) It was like a game of Cluedo without clothes. Anyhoo girl number one was hurled against a number of different walls with a ferocity that amazed her. So all's well that ends well.

Thursday, day off training and a day off work. Up at the crack of eight, breakfast, cup of tea and now a spell on the interweb. I have no idea what the future holds, I do however have a book to rad, a tv to watch and a couch to lie on. Ladbrokes are not taking bets
As far as I know, forgiveness is for the benefit of the person doing the forgiving, not the one being forgiven
